The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. R.I.P. NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration astronaut Walter Cunningham (March 16th, 1932 to January 3rd, 2023). Walter Cunningham served as the lunar module pilot for Apollo 7 - the first crewed, Low Earth Orbit flight of the Apollo program, in 1968. He was the last surviving crew member of that historic mission. Ronnie Walter Cunningham; Born March 16th, 1932; was NASA's third civilian astronaut, a fighter pilot, physicist, entrepreneur, and venture capitalist. Cunningham began flight training in 1952, served on active duty as a fighter pilot with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953 until 1956, where he completed 54 missions as a night fighter pilot in Korea, ultimately retiring at the rank of colonel. Arrest of Facebook dating scammers, kidnappers and rapists  The Command have arrested three suspects, namely; Cornelius Ememah, Nelson Aghogho and Ufuoma Tunde 'f', they chat and lure unsuspecting girls via Facebook, gang rape them and also insert odd objects into their virgina. Held them hostage, threaten to kill them, and then collect huge ransom from their parents before releasing them.They were arrested at Ufuoma in Ughelli North LGA when one of their victims sighted them and informed the police. The female suspect among them receives the 2/3. Victims and take them to the hotel where they usually carry out this dastardly act. They have so far done this to over 20 young girls. EFCC Secures 3785 Convictions in 2022 The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, secured a total of 3785 (Three Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty-five) convictions across all its Commands in 2022. The figure, which emerged from a review of the Commission’s performance in the outgone year, shows a 70.5% improvement over its record for 2021(2220). It also represents a 98.93% success rate in prosecution given that the Commission lost only 41 cases, representing 1.07% within the period As it was in 2021, the Lagos Command of the Agency recorded the most convictions-765, closely followed by the Ibadan Command with 573 convictions and the Port Harcourt Zonal Command- 567, while the headquarters recorded 314 convictions. The conviction secured by the Commission in 2022 is the highest by the EFCC Since inception, and sustains an upward trajectory which began shortly after the emergence of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. Meets Toshi, A Civil Servant Who Devotes His Time, Resources In Promoting Migili Culture  ***  Popularly known as Panti Miyera, Joshua Toshi is a Civil Servant with the Nasarawa State Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism. DSS arrest  masterminds of Kogi during Buhari's visit  The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested the masterminds of the Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) attack which occurred on December 29, 2022, near the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland in Okene, Kogi State. Recall that the explosion occurred shortly before the visit of the President Muhammadu Buhari to commission some projects in the State. The suspects arrested were Abdulmumin Ibrahim Otaru (a.k.a Abu Mikdad) and one of his associates, Saidu Suleiman. DSS spokesperson, Dr Peter Afunanya, said the suspects were arrested on January 3, 2023 and Otaru sustained a gunshot injury on his left foot while attempting to escape. BENUE TEACHERS GROAN OVER 13 MONTHS' UNPAID SALARIES Teachers in Benue State say they are facing a lot of hardship due to the over 13 months of salaries owed them by the government.   Our correspondent reports that some of the public primary school teachers have taken to petty trading and farming after school hours to meet some of their household needs.  But, there are others who do nothing outside of their teaching job, other than wait, hopefully, for the state government’s many promises to offset the salary backlog to materialise.  One of the teachers, who declined to mention her name, said she was owed a backlog of 15 months’ salaries.  “Teachers are owed a lot of money by the state government. I’m owed 10 months for 2017, then I haven’t been paid my salary for December last year, which was paid to a select few.  “Also, I have not been paid for February and March this year, which were also paid to a select few, and then October, and November with the entire arrears for this year

PDP LEADER, THREE OTHERS SHOT DEAD IN ANAMBRA  Four persons, including the People Democratic Party (PDP) leader, has been reportedly killed by gunmen in Anambra State. A source who does not want to be mentioned in the print told Tribune Online that the incident occurred at Obi Maduka’s compound within Nodu town square, Nodu Okpuno, in Awka South Local Government Area of the State. According to the source, the four victims were identified as Onyiebo Okoye – aka Onwa, Kenechukwu Okeke – PDP chairman in the area), Jude Ebenezer and Obinna Maduka. The source said the gunmen arrived at the compound with a white tinted Toyota Corolla and shot four people who were seated inside the compound. He said the victims have been conveyed to Amaku mortuary by their families after reporting to the Police who came to inspect the incident scene as the gunmen were said to have taken off immediately after killing the four victims. It was later revealed that the gunmen had pursued someone into the compound
