The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Thousands of protesters marching towards Sudan's presidential palace were blocked by police firing tear gas, as an anti-military campaign entered its 10th month.  Protests have continued weekly since an Oct. 25 military takeover that halted a transition to democracy and plunged the country into turmoil. Police on Sunday blocked protesters from reaching the kilometre-long road that leads to the presidential palace and chased them into nearby side streets, Reuters journalists said. Military leaders have said they are prepared to step aside if civilian groups can agree on a new government but political parties have been sceptical. BY BLESSING NWEKE Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare have rescued a young man who has mental disability  at 54 ridge road Onitsha in the early hours of Saturday 30th July 2022. The operation was led by Madam commissioner for women and Social Welfare Hon. Ify.Obinabo and a team of professional social workers from social welfare department of the ministry. The mental disable young man who is said to be in his early 30s was reported parading aimlessly along the street and most times passes the night at different bridges thereby becoming a threat to the lives of those living around the surrounding.  On getting the report the ministry quickly intervened. Consequently the man has been taken to Nteje rehabilitation home, where he will be properly taken care of, rehabilitated, trained in a skill before being reintegrated back into the society as plans are underway on how to get across to any member of his family or relation as the case maybe. FEMALE JAIL WORKER ARRESTED AFTER HAVING SEX WITH AN INMATE MULTIPLE TIMES. (PHOTOS).

A female employee at an Iowa prison has been arrested after allegedly having sex with an inmate multiple times over the course of seven months. Kayla Bergom, 27, is facing three counts of sexual misconduct for engaging in sexual activity with the unidientified inmate, 29, while she worked at the Tama County Jail. The fling occured between September 2020 and April 2021, and they had sex in a utility closet on at least one occasion and in the recreation yard at least twice, The Gazette reported. Tama County Sheriff Dennis Kucera told The Gazette that Bergom had worked for the jail for three years prior to her resignation and was charged in May. Her trial is set to take place on August 12. The former jail employee, who has pleaded not guilty, is facing up to six years of jail. Men of Ogun State Police Command have arrested a herbalist identified as Samson Ogundele, a resident of Referefu area of Oja odan, for allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of a young girl (name withheld) who came to his house on consultation.  The suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Oja odan divisional headquarters by the victim, who reported that she is a hairdressing apprentice and that a sum of one thousand naira got missing in their shop which made all the nine apprentices in the shop consult the herbalist to know who stole the money amongst them. On getting to the herbalist, he started calling them into a room one after the other after collecting N700 from them.  The complainant stated further that the first and second persons entered and came out, and when it was her turn, she entered and the herbalist tried to rape her.  Upon her complaint, the DPO Oja odan division, CSP Gabriel Ikechukwu, detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and he was arrested.

My Birthday Will Be Private, To Be Celebrated With The Sick, Less Privileged -- Mrs Soludo Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs Nonye Soludo says her birthday will be private and celebrated with the less privileged and sick people at hospitals. Mrs Soludo, who stated this ahead of her tomorrow, July 31, 2022, birth's anniversary, explained that it would give her better satisfaction and contentment, knowing that she used God's privilege to her to touch those in need. Explaining the schedule for the private event, the governor's wife noted that she will attend a Mass to thank God for the gift of a new phase, after which she will depart for randomly selected hospitals and orphanages, to spend some time with the people in both places. Arrests 4 notorious trans-border traffickers in Adamawa, 51 in Kano; seizes tons of illicit substances in Kebbi, Kwara, FCT No fewer than Two Million Seven Hundred and Fifty (2,750,000) tablets of Tramadol 225mg weighing 1,650 kilograms worth One Billion Three Hundred and Seventy Five Million Naira (N1, 375, 000,000) have been intercepted at the Apapa port in Lagos by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.  The consignment packed in 55 cartons of Tapentadol and Carisoprodol types of Tramadol was seized during examination of a container number SUDU 7538656 on Saturday 30th July following credible intelligence.  This comes on the heels of similar efforts by anti-narcotic officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja that thwarted bids by drug traffickers to export various psychoactive substances to London, UK and Dubai, UAE through the Lagos airport in the past week.
