 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

DISREGARD ANY FAKE NEWS OF PRESIDENT BUHARI TRAVELLING TO THE U.S-LAI MOHAMMED

       The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has urged Nigerians to disregard the fake news being circulated via a parody Twitter account and an old NTA news video that President  Muhammadu Buhari is travelling or has travelled to the U.S. In a statement issued in Lagos on Sunday, the minister said one of the  numerous parody Twitter accounts in his name,@MohammedLai, was used to disseminate the fake and ludicrous news that President Buhari is due to leave Nigeria for the USA on Monday ”to condole with President Trump over the floods in Houston.” Also, he said, an old NTA News video being circulated on the social Media claims that President Buhari has already left for the UN General Assembly in New York. ”This is a 2015 NTA News video that was repackaged to look current, and to give the impression that the President left Daura, where he is celebrating Eid-el-Kabir, directly for New York,” Mr. Mohammed said. GOVERNOR OBASEKI RESTORES SANITY TO ROADS IN EDO STATE.{PHOTO}

               Motorists, traders and residents in Benin City   on Thursday   commended the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for restoring sanity on the roads in the city with the revamped Edo State Traffic Control and Management Agency (EDSTMA). Speaking to journalists yesterday, a bus driver at the New Benin area of the city, Mr. Eghosa Omoruyi, expressed delight at the new development and said that the presence of EDSTMA officials will instill fear in bus drivers who are always in the habit of disobeying traffic light. “I hope to see changes with the new EDSTMA that was commissioned by our Royal Father, the Oba of Benin. I believe they will be different from the EDSTMA of old” he said. CHINESE GOVT BANS CHILDREN FROM ATTENDING CHURCHES IN THEIR COUNTRY.

           The Chinese Government have banned children from attending churches in the country. This is in a bid to tighten their grip on religious activities. The new directive by the Government also prohibits children from attending religious sermons and other related activities across China. This control on churches in the country started several years ago when places of worship were told to remove crosses from their buildings in Zhejiang Province. A researcher for Amnesty International, William Nee, who spoke to MailOnline UK, said, “At this point it’s unclear how widespread the ban on children attending church services are in China, but these alarming reports seem to be coming in from fairly diverse areas throughout the country.” Nee further said that the move reflects the tightening control of religion in “particular Islam and Christianity under the present administration” in the Asian country.        The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.
