  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. More than 1,000 people were rescued overnight from record flooding in the area, authorities said. The storm so far has killed two people in Texas, said authorities, who added they expect the death toll to rise. Law enforcement agencies advised people trapped in their houses not to take shelter in their attics unless they carried axes so they could break through to their roofs and within sight of rescue workers. KWARA STATE GOVERNOR AHMED APPROVES RELEASE OF N937M TO CONTRACTORS.

             Kwara State governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has approved the release of N937, 572, 974.09 to contractors handling various infrastructural projects across the State. The amount represents the third quarter payment under the Kwara Infrastructure Development (IF-K) payment grid for completed, ongoing and new projects. News of the approval was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the State Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Demola Banu. He stated that the payment would be made to the contractors in September. Banu, who noted that the release of the funds is to ensure that the ongoing projects and new projects are completed on schedule, added that the money will also cover payment for some completed projects. He listed some of the beneficiary projects to include construction of Arandun-Rore Ipetu road, Ilesha-Baruba-Gwanara road, Share-Oke Ode road (section 1 & 2), Arobadi-Megida road, Offa-Ira road, Ilala bridge, Erin Ile-Ilemona road, College of Engi

                The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has again assured Ekiti people that all the on going projects in the state would be completed before the end of his tenure. He gave the assurance while speaking at this year's edition of the Udiroko festival held at the palace of Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe Aladesanmi III.                   The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has challenged the Federal Character Commission to mount a campaign to enlighten Nigerians on the Commission's activities as well as the on spread of federal appointments. The Minister issued the challenge in Abuja on Friday when he received some officials of the Commission, led by its Secretary, Mallam Mahmoud Bello Tukur, on a co urtesy visit to his office.                 Justice Abdulazeez M. Z. Anka of the Federal High Court, Lagos granted the prayers of the EFCC seeking an interim forfeiture order of a property, Victoria East Park Hotel and Suite located at Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos State, over a N53.7 million fraud. The Hotel belongs to Abayomi Fredrick Ebiesuwa, a suspected fraud kingpin popularly known as Chairman. Ebiesuwa was arrested by the EFCC for allegedly masterminding fraudulent Dollar scheme to hoodwink unsuspecting victims.One more photo below.
