 Shut Up If You Have Nothing To Contribute To Benue, Alia Blasts Ortom Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, on Friday, urged his predecessors including, Chief Samuel Ortom, to refrain from interfering in his administration, warning that he would not allow anyone to  destabilise his government. Our correspondent reports that Ortom while in his speech during his 63rd birthday anniversary marked with a public lecture in Makurdi on Wednesday advised the governor to sheath sword against Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, for the sake of development of the state. A.P. OSINBAJO VISITED THE ABUJA COLLAPSED BUILDING SITE TODAY.{PHOTOS}.

       Acting President Yemi Osinbajo visited the site of the collapsed building, this evening, in Utako, Abuja.   A source said that emergency services are responding at the scene where a four-storey building has entirely collapsed in the Jabi area of Abuja,near Obafemi Awolowo Way and Solomon Lar Rd.Initiak reports indicate that at least two people have been killed,and three people have been transported to a nearby hospital,while an estimated 18 people are believed to be trapped under the rubble and debris.Expect increased activity and localized disruptions in the area as the search and rescue operation continues at the scene.       The Tiv Traditional Council (Ijir Tamen), today unanimously agreed to stand by Governor Ortom in the implementation of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law. The Council made its positon known at its meeting in Gboko, the traditional headquarters of the Tiv nation. The traditional rulers stated that if Governor Ortom would be crucified because he chose to resist the invasion and occupation of his land, they were ready to be crucified with him. They urged the Governor to stand firm and resist any attempt to surrender the land to herders under whatever guise. LAGOS DEBUNKS ALLEGED ANTI-IGBO MOVES BY GOV. AMBODE.#PRESS RELEASE.

      The Lagos State Government on Thursday totally played down a report on social media alleging that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was making some moves against non-indigenes especially Igbos in the State, saying the report was baseless, mischievous and irresponsible. Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan in a statement, said the claims in the said report were nothing but absolute falsehood and a mere figment of the imagination of unscrupulous persons who concocted it. The report had alleged that the Governor had outlawed the position of Eze Ndi-Igbo in Lagos and was making other moves against non-indigenes. The report, which did not state the event where the Governor allegedly made such pronouncements, also quoted the Governor as saying that Lagos was not a colonial settlement, but owned by the Yorubas.       Lagos State Government has declared that it has not privatised water supply, neither has it awarded water privatisation contract to any organisation, saying that the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model initiated in the water sector was still at bidding stage. The Managing Director, Lagos Water Corporation - Engr. Muminu Badmus made this known on Thursday at Ijora while debunking some online media reports that the State government had  awarded water privatisation contract to a discredited company, stressing that such insinuations were at best preemptive as the government had only shortlisted a number of reputable companies, none of which was yet to get the contract. He explained that the Lagos Water Corporation had publicly advertised an Expression of Interest (EOI) which attracted seven local and international firms, out of which four firms were shortlisted following a rigorous and transparent process.         THE Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Mr Anthony Ogbizi, on Thursday paraded suspected homosexuals, who were arrested by security agents in Aba, the commercial hub of the state. The suspects were identified as Fred Ndubuisi, Anyanwu Chidera, Kamsiriochukwu Onuoha, Anderson Emeruwa , Sampson Nwadike and Nnadi Promise. Ogbizi disclosed that the suspects were arrested at City Gobal Hotel in Aba at about 2am. A statement by the state police command stated that the suspects were nabbed following a distress call from the manger of the hotel. The statement added that the hotel manger alleged that the suspects were seen kissing one another at the hotel bar by an employee, who reported the incident to the management. It was further gathered that the manger went to one of the hotel rooms, where two of the suspects had checked in earlier and discovered that they were six in the room, romancing and kissing one anothers.       1. The Nigerian Army on Wednesday 15 August 2018 at the Army Headquarters Conference Room, conducted a test for its senior officers in Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba languages. The test which has 50 senior officers in attendance is part of the Nigerian Army’s effort towards ensuring that all personnel are proficient in the use of the three major Nigerian languages. 2. The test came after eight months of intensive lecture organised by the Army Headquarters for the senior officers. It is believed that understanding these languages will aid the troops while carrying out their constitutional roles particularly during internal security operations across the country. This will also enhance mutual cooperation between the Nigerian Army and the general public. 3.
