 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

  Court convicts skit maker ‘D General’ of drug trafficking  A Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday convicted social media comedian, Joshua Sunday also known as ‘D General’ of drug trafficking. ‘D General’, who is also a social media influencer, was dragged to court by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), alongside Caleb William, a cinematographer. Delivering judgement, Justice Daniel Osiagor held that the volume of substance was minimal and would rather convict the defendants and caution them, rather than sentence them. The court consequently convicted the defendants and cautioned them to “go and sin no more”.

National Immunization Plus Days Against Polio Virus To Begin In Anambra On Saturday January, 29.  Anambra State Government says it is committed to the task of protecting the children of the State from polio virus and contribute in sustaining the polio free status of the country. The Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala made the commitment during a press briefing organized by the Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency ahead of the National Immunization Plus Days against Polio which will begin on Saturday January 29, 2022 until Tuesday February 1, 2022. Governor Obiano Decorates ADC, Ben Eke as Superintendent Of Police The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has enjoined all the newly promoted police officers across the country to be alive to their duties, impact positively on others and put in more efforts to their jobs in ensuring security. Governor Obiano gave the admonition today, Tuesday, 25th January, 2022 at the decoration ceremony of the promoted police officer, Mr Ben Eke who is his ADC. INEC Resumes New Phase Of Continuous Voter Registration In Anambra State The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has approved the resumption of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Anambra State beginning from Tuesday, January 25, 2022. The Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Nkwachukwu Orji, who made the announcement while addressing the media in Awka, said that the resumption of the exercise which was temporarily suspended prior to the Anambra governorship poll in November, 2021, would offer eligible but unregistered voters to get registered. He said that the exercise would also help already registered voters to transfer and/or update their registration, adding that voters would also collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) during the period. Alleged N1.4bn Oil Fraud: Court Adjourns Nadabo Energy Boss’ Trial Till March 1 The ongoing trial of Abubakar Ali Peters and his company, Nadabo Energy Limited, for an alleged N1.4billion fraud before Justice C.A. Balogun of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, continued on January 25, 2022, with the cross-examination of the fifth prosecution witness , PW5, Abdulrasheed Bawa, Chairman of the EFCC.  The EFCC is prosecuting Abubakar and his company on a 27-count charge for allegedly using forged documents to obtain N1, 464,961,978.24 from the Federal Government as oil subsidy, after allegedly inflating the quantity of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, purportedly imported and supplied by the company.  More photos below.

Mudashiru Obasa, has described the death of former Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Princess Adenrele Adeniran-Ogunsanya, as a major loss to the State. We want to speed up the process, avoid going to conference with Senate. The House of Representatives has added "consensus" as a third option for the nomination of candidates of political parties for election in the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill, 2021. This brings the options to three -direct primaries, indirect primaries and nomination by consensus. The House included the new provision in the bill on Tuesday after it had rescinded the earlier version it passed on Thursday, last week. This has brought the House' version in line with the Senate's, which already incorporated consensus as a third option for the nomination of candidates. The step became necessary in order to speed up the passage of the bill and its transmission to President Muhammadu Buhari for his assent. Without the consensus option in the House' version of the bill would mean that both chambers would have to raise conference committees to reconcile their differences which could further delay the bi
