The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.       The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has appealed to the British Government to help Nigeria achieve the repatriation of the country's stolen money stashed away in banks in United Kingdom. Magu made the appeal while receiving a delegation from British’s Serious and Organised Crime Joint Analysis, SOCJA for West Africa at EFCC’s headquarters. He noted that it was worrisome that the wealth of the country has for a very long time, remained trapped in foreign countries, hindering infrastructural development of Nigeria and creating paucity of funds to run the country.       Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday, flagged off a free healthcare programme aimed at combating organ impairment and life-threatening ailments in children. The initiative tagged “Healthy Bee Project” is a component of the Governor’s development agenda to reposition healthcare and give disadvantaged children access to quality medical care. The free medical mission is organised in collaboration with Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat (BOSKOH) Healthcare Mission International, a non-governmental organisation (NGO). Mrs. Odunlami disclosed this in her keynote address at the second edition of the Moot Court Session held for State Counsel today at the Folarin Coker Staff Clinic Hall, the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja. She explained that a Moot Court, which is a Mock Court in which lawyers argue imaginary cases for practise, will allow the participants take part in simulated or arbitrary proceedings usually involving drafting memoranda or participating in oral argument.        Priests of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu are currently staging a protest and marching towards the Enugu State Government House over the gruesome murder of one of their own, Late Rev. Fr. Paul Offu. Father Offu was murdered by yet-to-be-identified men along the Ihe-Agbudu Road in Awgu on Thursday night, August 1st. Until his death, Father Offu was the parish priest of St. James the Greater Parish, Ugbawka. The protesting priests are demanding the immediate arrest of Offu's killers. Muhammed Adebayo before Justice Sikiru Oyinloye of the Kwara State High Court, on a six-count charge bordering on land fraud. Count two of the charges reads: “That you, Mohammed Adebayo, sometimes in July 2013 in Ilorin withi n the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of N950,000 (Nine Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) only from one Mary Omowunmi Kolade on the false pretence that three plots of land (situated at Molete, Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State) which you sold to her belonged to you, a representation you knew to be false punishable under section 1 of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences.” He pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.       The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III has attributed the failure of the last National Assembly to confirm the appointment of Ibrahim Magu as the substantive chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, as a way of hiding the ‘skeleton in their cupboard’.        The Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has secured the final forfeiture of “Asmau Plaza”, valued at about N150million, traced to Rasaq Momonu, Controller, Finance and Account, Kwara State Government House, which is believed to be proceeds of crime. The order of final forfeiture of the plaza, located at University Road, Tanke Area, Ilorin, was given by Justice Sikiru Oyinloye of  a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin, on August 1, 2019 following an application brought before the court by the EFCC seeking for its forfeiture. Moving the motion, dated July 19, 2019, Nnaemeka Omewa, counsel for the EFCC, urged the court to grant the prayer for final forfeiture, pursuant to Section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences. “I urge the Court to grant the motion,” he said.       Nigerian Army has unveiled four (4) Mine Resistant Anti Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicles designed and manufactured in Nigeria in partnership with Proforce Limited on 1 August 2019. Nigeria's Chief of Defence Staff General Abayomi Gabriel Olanisakin commissions the vehicles at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre Asokoro Abuja. The MRAP vehicles are a result of collaboration between the Nigerian Army and Proforce Limited and is in line with the Local Content Policy of the Federa l Government of Nigeria and the desire and commitment of the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai for the Army to be self relient and the need to develop indigenous production of Defence hardwares.
