EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

CANCER AND HIV/AIDS AWARENESS: LASG SEEKS PRIVATE SECTOR PARTNERSHIP.

       The Lagos State Government has identified the need to explore the private sector involvement in its drive to increase public awareness on Cancer and HIV/AIDs as part of efforts to stem the spread of the deadly diseases. The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Pharm. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, said that there is a need for the Private Sector and Non-Governmental Organizations to continuall y support and partner with government in the area of research and public education of these common diseases in the society. Speaking at an awareness outreach on Breast, Cervical Cancer Screening and HIV Testing and Counseling for Youth in Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area of the State, Akinbile-Yussuf added that the obligation of raising awareness about the potential killer diseases should be collectively pursued and not to be left to government alone.       The Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano, has declared November 17, 2017, as public holiday. This, according to him, is to enable civil servants in the state to relocate to their electoral wards to be able to participate in the governorship election coming up on November 18. Governor Obiano made the announcement during his address to civil servants at the 2017 African Public Service Day. The event took place at the state capital, Awka. Obiano also announced the payment of their leave allowance on the 15th of November. Speaking about the contributory pension, he dismisses the insinuation that his administration has mandated all workers under the state to enroll. He stated that his government has set up a committee to examine the programme and make recommendations. COURT ORDERS TEMPORARY FORFEITURE OF OSBOURNE TOWERS FLAT+ADJOURNED CASE TO NOVEMBER 30,2017.

       Justice Saliu Sadu of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Thursday, November 9, 2017, ordered the temporary forfeiture of Flat 7B Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, to the Federal Government. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had discovered the sums of $43, 449, 947, £27,800 and N23, 218 kept in iron cabinets and jute bags, otherwise known as ‘Ghana-must-go’ bags, in the apartment on Wednesda y, April 12, 2017. The money had since been permanently forfeited to the Federal Government. Justice Sadu gave the forfeiture order on the flat following an ex parte application filed by the counsel to the EFCC, Rotimi Oyedepo. Oyedepo had, on May 5, 2017, revealed that the wife of a former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ayo Oke, Folashade, owns the apartment. She was said to have made a cash payment of $1.658m for the flat between August 25 and September 3, 2015 in the name of a company, Chobe Ventures Limited. She an
