 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

OPERATION HADIN KAI: THEATRE COMMANDER DECORATES NEWLY PROMOTED BRIGADIER GENERALS IN THE THEATRE The Theatre Commander (TC) Joint Task Force ( JTF ) North East (NE) Operation HADIN KAI ( OPHK ) Major General CG Musa had on Tuesday, 20 December 2022 decorated eight (8) Senior Officers of the Nigerian Army (NA) to the rank of Brigadier Generals. The investiture ceremony took place at Headquarters Theatre Command Officers' Mess in Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri. In his remarks, the Theatre Commander Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa congratulated the newly promoted Brigadier Generals for their elevations and thereafter commended their spouses and family members  their support and prayers toward their progress in the NA.  The Theatre Commander, urged the Senior Officers to be focused, firm, fair and flexible to personnel under their command while exercising their powers of command . TROOPS RAID IPOB/ESN CAMPS IN EBONYI AND ENUGU STATES, RECOVER IED, FIRE ARMS Troops of 82 Division  in conjunction with Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police and Department of State Services on Exercise GOLDEN DAWN II on Monday 19 December 2022 conducted Joint raid operations at an IPOB/ESN  Camp located at Amagu village Nkalaha community, Ishielu LGA of Ebonyi State. During the raid operations, the troops came in contact with members of the dissident group , resulting in exchange of fire. In the encounter, the gallant troops neutralized some of the irredentists, while others took to their heels abandoning the camp. On winning the fire fight, troops recovered 102 rounds of 7.62mm special, 2 Pump Action guns, 5 locally made rifles, 1 roll of  Detonator 27, quantity 24  Detonators, 33 electrical cables, quantity 12 of type 36 Hand Grenades and 12 bags of substances suspected to be Marijuana. LAGOS ASSEMBLY COMMENDS NEIGHBOURHOOD SAFETY AGENCY   The Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Information Security and Strategy has commended the Management of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) for its efforts at ensuring a safer and secured Lagos State.  Hon. Court Sentences Two To Death By Hanging For The Murder Of Radio Nigeria Staff In Port Harcourt December 21, 2022   A Degema High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has convicted and sentenced to death two suspects Godwin Udoh and Wisdom Udoh for the murder of one miss Oluchi Okorie, a staff of Radio Nigeria, Purity FM.Abakaliki. The judge ,Justice Okogbule Gbasam,   in his judgement sentenced the two defendants to death by hanging. Justice Gbasam who based his judgement on the confessional statement made by the defendants to the police ,said from the evidence presented to the court it was clear that the defendants were the last persons with the deceased before the sad incident. The two defendants who are natives of Akwa  Ibom State were said to have picked late Miss Okorie along East West road on the 10th of April 2015 on her way from Abakiliki in Ebonyi state  to visit her sister in PortHarcourt. 2023: ICPC to Deploy Visual Aids to Document Vote-Buying   The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has declared its readiness to deploy visual aids to document cases of vote-buying in the 2023 general election.   The Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, SAN, OFR, disclosed this at a stakeholders’ summit on addressing the influence of money on the 2023 general election organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.   The move, according to him, is one of the Commission’s plans to support INEC to monitor compliance with the extant provisions of the electoral act.
