  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Weeks after getting married for the fourth time to Olori Mariam Anako Queen from Ebira in Kogi state, and also tying the knot with Olori Elizabeth Opeoluwa Ogunwusi nee Akinmuda in Magodo, Lagos, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi will be taking two more wives this October. He will be tying the knot with Tobi Philips and Ashley Adegoke. Tobi Philips is a graduate of Marine science from the University of Lagos and top model. Ashley Adegoke is a chartered accountant and an entrepreneur. She has a Masters in Accounting and Finance from the University of Greenwich, and currently runs her businesses in the United Kingdom. EFCC Arraigns Saphire Scents’ MD for N12 million Fraud.   The EFCC has arraigned the Managing Director of Saphire Scents Limited, Adewale Aladejana, before Justice M. A Madugu of the Federal High Court sitting in Bwari, Abuja, for obtaining money under false pretence to the tune of N12,000,000 (Twelve Million Naira) only. He was arraigned on Tuesday,  October 4, 2022 on three- count charges bordering on misappropriation and obtaining under false pretence. Specifically,  he allegedly collected the sum of N12 million from potential  investors in his company, with a promise of turnover in six months, without offering any profit or returning the invested funds to his investors.

Customs FOU Zone "D" Intercepts 502 Bags of Rice Worth N61 Million Concealed In Tanker Truck The Nigeria Customs Service Federal Operations Unit, Zone "D" has impounded a tanker truck without a registration number loaded with 502 bags of foreign parboiled rice (50kg each).  According to the Customs Comptroller in charge of Zone "D" Comptroller Musa Ibrahim Jalo, the truck was intercepted along Bauchi/Gombe axis with the confiscated items valued at N61 Million. Comptroller Jalo stated that "On the 4th of October, at about 0800 hours, my Operatives on a credible intelligence stumbled upon this tanker truck suspected to conceal uncustoms goods along the Bauchi/Gombe road and upon examination, some five hundred and two (502) foreign parboiled rice were uncovered from the compartment of the truck". Pickpockets Steal ex-Kaduna Governor Namadi Sambo’s Phone Pickpockets on Thursday stole the mobile phone of a former Nigerian vice president, Namadi Sambo, at the NAF Conference Center, Abuja. The former VP was invited as a guest of honour at the public presentation of biography and launching of Solomon Lar Leadership Institute. 3 YEAR-OLD CHILD AND FIVE OTHERS KILLED IN KOGI FLOOD A three-year-old child and five others have been confirmed dead in the flood that wreaked havoc in Ibaji Local Government Area (LGA) of Kogi State.   Two of the victims were brought ashore by divers following a boat that capsized on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, while trying to ferry residents across to Ganaja village from Gadumo area in Lokoja.   Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP William Aya, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday, October 5.    “Yes, I  can confirm that two bodies were discovered by divers following a boat mishap on Tuesday when trying to ferry residents across the flooded parts of Ganaja-Lokoja road." he stated.    An eyewitness identified one of the deceased victims as Abudulfatia Abudulazeez.   "The boat mishap had passengers crossing from Ganaja to the Ajaokuta end. 26 Residents Fleeing From Attacks By Terrorists’ Kingpin, Turji Bello Drown In Zamfara Nigerian troops on Wednesday repelled an attack by terrorists at Faru Village near their base in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State. This is just as 21 children and five women in the community drowned in a river at Bukuyum Local Government. PRNigeria gathered that the deceased were fleeing an attack by the terrorists, who invaded their communities, when the two boats conveying them across the river capsized.
