 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. KDSG declares 24-hour curfew in Jema’a and Kaura LGAs Following advice from security agencies, the Kaduna State Government has declared a 24-hour curfew in Jema’a and Kaura local government areas with immediate effect.  This is to assist the security agencies to stabilize the situation, save lives and property and enable the restoration of law and order in these areas. Security agencies have full authorization to enforce the curfew. Government appeals to all residents of Jema’a and Kaura local government areas to cooperate with the security agencies in the urgent task of restoring peace and upholding law and order.    Government condemns the violence and all acts of lawlessness that have occurred in the area.  Further updates will be issued as necessary. Nigerian Army Sacks Soldier For Taking Picture In Colonel’s Office The Nigerian Army has sacked a soldier attached to the Army University, Biu, Borno State for professional misconduct. The private soldier was accused of taking pictures while seated in the superior officer’s office. “Private soldier dismissed from service after taking a photo in a colonel’s office. Pls personnel should be warned cause it’s getting out of hand,” a short message sent by a commanding officer on WhatsApp to soldiers read.   Confirming the incident, a military officer said, “This guy is so indiscipline, a chronic one but I don’t think he deserved to be dismissed with what he just did.”

Court Frees Journalist After Spending 179days In Prison Court Dismisses Terrorism, Treasonable Felony Charges Against Nigerian Journalist, Agba Jalingo AFederal High Court sitting in Calabar has discharged Nigerian journalist and activist, Agba Jalingo in a criminal suit that alleged he committed acts of terrorism, treasonable felony and cybercrimes.   This followed the decision of the Cross River State Government to withdraw the charges it filed against him. The state had taken over the prosecution from the Nigerian government in February 2020 when he was admitted to bail after spending 179 days in incarceration.

Buhari Government Claimed No Money For Universities But Built Railway To Niger Republic - ASUU  The Academic Staff Union of Universities has again blamed the Nigerian Government for the ongoing strike in public universities. The union’s National President, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke, stated in an interview with Sunday Punch that the government “went to sleep” for eight months after it completed negotiations with the union in May 2021. When asked for his reaction to claims by the Nigerian Government that there were no funds to meet the demands of the union, Osodeke said, “The government said there is no money but they have money for elections. EFCC Subjects Officer Behind Obiano’s Video Leak to Disciplinary Action The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to a trending video showing the former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano in the custody of the Commission.  The Commission wishes to distance itself from the said video which is completely at variance with the established Standard Operating Procedure of the EFCC.  A discreet investigation ordered upon discovery of the leak has revealed the errant officer behind the odious act and he is currently being subjected to appropriate disciplinary action.  One more photo below.

EFCC Arrests Seven Undergraduates For Suspected Internet Fraud in Uyo Operatives of the Uyo Zonal Command of the EFCC  have arrested seven undergraduates of the University of Uyo,  Akwa Ibom State, for  suspected internet fraud in a sting operation. They were arrested on March 19, 2021 at their hideout along Ring Road, off Nwaniba Road, near Uniuyo permanent site. The all- male suspects are: Emmanuel Chigoziem; Ubong Innocent;  Michael Ikechukwu Emekwuru;  Samuel Edet Okon;  Wisdom Edem;  Precious Ime Oyung and Moses Simon.  Items recovered from the suspects are: a Toyota Camry car;  three HP laptops and phones of different brands.

Umueri Monarch, Emeka Decry's EFCC's Treatment Of Former Governor Obiano The traditional ruler of Umueri Community, Anambra East Council Area, Igwe Ben Emeka has called on Journalists to, as the mouth pieces of the society, call attention to the abuse of the fundamental human rights of the immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.  Igwe Emeka made this call at his palace when he received the executive members of the Nigerian Union Of Journalists, Anambra State Council.  The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Council, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu.
