The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. UZODIMMA REITERATES THE COMMITMENT OF THE PROGRESSIVE GOVERNORS' FORUM TO THE UNITY OF APC  The Imo State Governor and the Chairman of the Progressive Governors' Forum (PGF), Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has given assurance of the forum's support and commitment to the continued peace and unity in the All Progressive Congress (APC).  Governor Uzodimma gave this assurance after the meeting between the Progressive Governors' Forum (PGF) and the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressive Congress party, (APC) at the party's Headquarters in Abuja. Borno Hisbah officials shave youths’ hair; say it is against morals, ethics and culture of the state Officials of the Borno State Hisbah Command have shaved off the hairs of some young men in the state.  The Islamic police in a statement at the weekend, said the haircuts were carried out at various areas of Maiduguri, including Baga Road, Gwange district, Keleri, Fori, London, Dala, Madiganeri, Mulai, Shehuri, Magumeri, during the just concluded Sallah celebration.    According to the spokesperson of the outfit, Ibrahim Abdulkardir, the hairstyles violates the good morals, ethics and culture of the people of Borno State. Police arrest 26 suspects over gruesome murder of woman accused of witchcraft in Cross River The Cross River State Police Command has arrested 26 suspects for the gruesome murder of Mrs. Martina Itagbor, who was accused of witchcraft. You will recall Magic FM reported that the mother of four was accused of being responsible for the deaths of some youths in a car crash.  She was subsequently beaten and burned alive by youths in Netim community in Akamkpa Local Government Area of the state.  Spokesperson of the command, SP Irene Ugbo, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday, July 4, in Calabar.  Ugbo, who disclosed that the suspects were arrested at various locations in the state, said the command had begun investigations into the matter to determine the culpability of the suspects. Abia govt bans civil servants from trading during working hours Abia State government has banned civil servants and other public servants in the state from hawking and trading articles within the government’s stipulated hours working hours of 8am to 4pm. The order was given by the acting Head of Service, Joy Maduka during her maiden meeting with the staff of the inner office. The meeting also involved the entire management and member of staff of her office. Maduka maintained that overhauling and reforming the service to restore its lost glory, are tasks that must be accomplished in the present administration’s scheme of things. She admonished workers to eschew sabotage, unethical behaviour, general indiscipline and implored them to adhere strictly to the public service rules and regulations. Police arrest two for hacking into over 1,000 bank accounts in Lagos 4th Jul 2023  Two men who specialise in hacking into bank customers’ accounts have been arrested by the zone 2 command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), which consists of Lagos and Ogun. Hauwa Idris-Adamu, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrest of the two suspects in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos. According to her, the force worked on a petition from United Bank for Africa (UBA) in May. Expert: Nigerians may pay N10,000 for 100 units of electricity if tariffs rise 4th Jul 2023  As apprehension over the anticipated 40 per cent increase in electricity tariff persists, the Chief Executive Officer of PowerCap Limited, Mr. Abiodun Ogunleye, has projected that consumers may be paying as high as N10,000 to vend for 100 units of electricity if the tariff eventually rises. 131 students from DLHS scored above 300 in 2023 UTME The management of Deeper Life High School celebrated their students yesterday for achieving impressive scores above 300 in the recently concluded 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Miss Umeh, Kamsiyochukwu Nkechinyere emerged as the top scorer with an outstanding mark of 360, making her the highest achiever in the UTME. She was followed closely by Andrew Imoukhuede, who scored 355.

Police arrest father, daughter and her boyfriend over abduction of Chief Imam in Ondo Detectives from Ondo Police Command have arrested three suspects in connection with the abduction of Alhaji Ibrahim Bodunde, the Chief Imam of Uso in Owo local government area of the state.   The 67-year-old Chief Imam was abducted by the suspects at his farm located at Asolo camp. He was released after N2m was paid by the community.  The three suspects include 40-year-old Isah Bello, his daughter, Aisha Bello, 20, and her 19-year-old boyfriend, Muinah Mohammed, were arrested through intelligence gathering.  The suspects were paraded at the command's headquarters in Akure on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. Alleged Forgery: No Plans To Sue JAMB – Mmesoma Ejikeme’s Father Ejikeme Romanus, the father of Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme, who was accused of falsifying the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) by the Joint Administration and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said there is no plans to sue the board.  The father of the controversial student disclosed this in an interview with The Nation on Tuesday. Ejikeme Romanus, who denied plans to seek redress in court, said media reports that the family had dragged JAMB to court, demanding N20 billion over alleged misrepresentation of facts were not true.   The reports alleged that while seeking a court injunction, Mmesoma sought a restraining order on JAMB and any of its personnel from issuing any further comments on the alleged forged results till further notice. ALIA, SAYS HE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS POOR START 4th July, 2023  It has become necessary to once more advise the Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, to focus on the task of fulfilling his promises to the people and refrain from denigrating the name of his predecessor, Chief Samuel Ortom who has been subjected to a media trial and other forms of attacks by the present administration.  The Governor’s latest attack on Chief Ortom was contained in a press statement in which he took a swipe at his predecessor on a number of issues, describing him as a failure who did nothing for the people in eight years.  The unprovoked attacks have unfortunately become recurrent. We would ordinarily have responded in equal measure, but we have chosen to rather advise the Governor and his aides to concentrate on the task of providing development for the people. It was gathered that bandits blocked the Pandogari-Allawa road a day to Sallah and shot six passengers, including an SS 2 student of the Maryam Babangida Girls’ Science College, Minna, Hauwa Aliyu, and the mother of the baby to death. A release signed by the Director, Lagos State Examinations Board, Mr. Adebayo Orunsolu informed all concerned stakeholders in the Public and Approved Private Primary Schools in the State that the test would be conducted simultaneously in all the centres.   He, therefore, enjoined the stakeholders in the affected schools to take note of the date and ensure that their pupils fully participate in the test in compliance with the "No child should be left behind" Policy of the State Government.
