 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

PRESIDENCY ORDERS WITHDRAWAL OF ‘FAKE NEWS’ PRESS RELEASE ON THE ORDER OF ARREST OF NFF CHAIRMAN.#PRESS RELEASE.

       A press release in circulation in the last 24 hours, to the effect that President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the arrest and prosecution of Amaju Pinnick, the NFF Chairman, is fake news because anyone familiar with the President’s unmitigated and unshakable commitment to the due processes of the law will not make such assumptions of the President. The position of the President that allegations of criminal natur e should be addressed only by investigation and law enforcement agencies, within the framework of the law has not changed. It is not in the nature of President Buhari to say go and arrest that man or woman as formed the practice in the past. Rather, he allows all allegations of this nature to be addressed using the mechanism of the rule of law even as law enforcement and investigation agencies should not in any way be hampered in performing their duties. At the same time, nobody should drop names to seek to influence the course of those investigations.

     The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has destroyed some Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) gun trucks in air strikes conducted near Damasak in Northern Borno State. The attacks were executed yesterday, 5 January 2019, whilst providing close air support for ground troops at Damasak who were in pursuit of the terrorists who had attem pted to breach their location. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Mi-35M Helicopter Gunship engaged the group of terrorists’ gun trucks in successive waves of attacks as they retreated, destroying and immobilizing 3 of them while causing significant damage to others and neutralizing several terrorists.         It was a sorrowful and tearful moment in Oju at the funeral rites of eight members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who died in a ghastly motor accident on Friday, 28th December, 2018 on their way to the Zone C senatorial campaign flag-off in Agatu. Representatives, candidates for various elections and party stalwarts as well as bereaved family members battled to hold tears as they took turns to give funeral orations at the combined church service. Governor Samuel Ortom in a funeral oration, described the deaths as tragic and painful, saying the patriots died when their services were most needed in the build up to the 2019 general elections.
