 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

UNKNOWN GUNMEN ATTACKS ASSEMBLIES OF GOD CHURCH IN ONITISHA ANAMBRA STATE TODAY,KILLING MANY PEOPLE.{READ}.

                 Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers have shot and killed a police officer guarding Assemblies of God Church on the Oguta road Onitsha, Anambra State. One person identified as an okada rider was also killed by the robbers, while a passenger said to be on the victim’s bike sustained gunshot wound and has been rushed to the hospital. This incident is coming seven days after gunmen attacked St Philip’s Catholic Church, Ozubulu and killed no fewer than 13 persons and injured 27. A resident of the area told pressmen that the gunmen had momentarily stopped at the Assemblies of God Church, but on sighting some policemen at the church, opened fire on them. “When the firing became too hot, the policemen abandoned their patrol vehicle and ran away for safety. “The gunmen moved to their patrol van and took a gun belonging to the policeman they killed. “I saw two of the gunmen, but I can’t say how many they are in number.” Another eyewitness said, “Gu

               According to Vanguard who is reporting today that '' The Nigeria Police Force says it has detained and tried two of its personnel in orderly room who had escorted popular musician, Davido, for alleged reckless shooting in Lagos.   A video in circulation on social media showed two policemen allegedly shooting into the air on the street in a moving vehicle in Lagos. The Head of Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit ( PCRRU), ACP Abayomi Shogunle, told newsmen that following complaints by members of the public, the case was immediately registered by the unit.   “On Aug. 1, PCRRU was notified about a video in circulation on social media in which some men alleged to be policemen were seen shooting in the air on the street in a moving vehicle,” Shogunle said.   He said the Commissioner of police in charge of Police Mobile Force ( PMF  at the Force Headquarters, had identified the men following the directive of the Inspector-General of Police. AMBODE APPROVES PHASE 2 OF CODE-LAGOS TODAY+TO LAUNCH 300 NEW CODING CENTRES NEXT MONTH.

                 Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the implementation of the second phase of the CodeLagos Project, which will be launched in September 2017. The approval is coming on the heels of the successful implementation of the pilot phase of the project which has trained 5,464 students of primary and secondary schools across the State. Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Obafela Bank-Olemoh in a statement on Sunday, said that 65 schools including government and private schools took part in the pilot phase. He said: “The training has delivered to the students critical life skills including basic computing, computational thinking and use of basic computer programming tools like Scratch and python over a period of eight weeks and the feedbacks have been inspiring.” “Of the 65 schools in the pilot, 23 are government schools of which seven of them are girls’ only schools while two others are boys only.” He also disclosed that the

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State have justified why the Ogun West Senatorial District should produce the next governor of the state in 2019. They spoke in Abeokuta at the 80th birthday ceremony of a former Secretary to the State Government, Deacon Poju Adeyemi yesterday, stressing that the people of Ogun West are competent, qualified and capable of governing the state. Obasanjo said it will be unfair to deny Ogun West the governorship position in 2019, after more than 40 years of the creation of the state. He said Ogun West has credible, illustrious and competent professionals in all sphere of endeavour, such as academia, military, civil service and politics.
