 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

EUROPEAN UNION,TO LIFT BAN ON VEGETABLE EXPORTS FROM GHANA.

                According to sources,the European Union {EU} Ambassador to Ghana,William Hannaa has hinted of plans by the EU to lift the ban placed on the the export of some vegetables from Ghana last year,because the produce did not meet the required quality standards.According to him,though there is a huge market in the EU for Ghanaian produce,the union will not compromise on quality standards.Speaking to the press,William Hanna explained that the EU is currently assisting local farmers through its Trade Related Assistance and Quality Enabling Programme {TRAQUE} to ensure that they meet the standards.''The market is there' the consumers in Europe are very interested in by Ghanaian produce but you've got to get the quality right.One of the problems we had last year was that a few vegetables were not meeting the right quality standards for the European markets;unfortunately we had to ban those vegetables.But the good news is that we are working together to try to ensur

                 The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to speculations and rumours regarding the number and names of the senior Army officers affected in the recent retirement exercise.This is worrisome as some individuals and media houses went to the ridiculous extent of publishing outrageous figures and names of serving officers as being retired.This is unethical and unfair.It is therefore necessary to inform the public to please disregard such inaccurate lists.We wish to state that only 38 senior officers were affected by the retirement exercise.For avoidance of doubt the following is the statistics of the officers retired compulsorily'9 Major General,10 Brigadier Generals,7 Colonels,11 Lieutenant Colonels and s Major.We are quite aware that some mischievous elements are trying to whip up sentiments.This is quite unfortunate because all the affected officer were retired based on Service exigencies and in line with the Armed Forces Act,CAP A20 Laws of the Federation o

SOUTH AFRICA,HAVE INTRODUCED THE CHINESE ''MANDARIN'' LANGUAGE TO AT LEAST 44 SCHOOLS.{PHOTOS}.

                 According to the South African Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga,who said Mandarin language is introduced to at least 44 schools across South Africa.100 teachers will be trained the language this year,in a three week training program sponsored by the Institute of Global Chinese Language Teacher Educaion.The Chinese government will send Chinese teachers to South Africa and donate 2,000 textbooks to assist in teaching Mandarin in schools until a South African textbook is developed.It is expected that at least 500 schools in South Africa will offer Mandarin as a second additional language.More photos below.

          The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said today monday that in recent times,a lot of interest has been generated by the action of the Commission in freezing the accounts of suspects that were investigated or are currently being investigated.Some commentators have tended to ascribe vindictive motives to this action in order to prevent misinformation,it is imperative to explain the reason behind the Commission's actions in this regard.Freezing of accounts suspected of being used for commission of financial crimes is a mandatory investigative step backed by law.One more photo below.

                  Yesterday Sunday,Queen Elizabeth sent the following message to President Obama ''Prince Philip and I have been shocked by the events in Orlando.Our thoughts and prayer are with all those who have been affected''.The Queen is referring to the yesterday June 12 shooting at a gay bar killing about 50 people were killed and at least wounded.According to sources,A gunman killed 50 and wounded at least 50 more in the shooting at an Orlando,Florida,club early sunday morning.The incident has been labeled a terrorist attack..29 year old Omar Mateen,the Afghan origin gunman whose pictured is seen below,killed the 50 people,injured many and pledged allegiance to Isis in a phone call to emergency number 911 during the attack.His a security guard who was born in New York to Afghan parents called 911 after his initial assault on the dance club to pledge allegiance to the leader of the Islamic State Abu Bar Al-Baghdadi.More photos below.

           Over the weekend,Senator President Bukola Saraki,is keeping with the tradition of maintaining close touch with people of his constituents,had iftar {Broke his fast} with cross section of people in his house.IDPU,religious,political leaders,reps of women groups,traditional,community and opinion leaders.During the feast many issues were raised in the discussion that ensued.One of them is the non-payment of teachers salary in different states.I promised the teachers in the iftar gathering to make the regular payment of their salary a subject for debate on the floor of the Senate in other to have a national position on resolving the issue.The meaning of iftar ''Is the meal served at sunset during Ramadan,as Muslims break the daily fast.or to Break the day's fast''.More photos below.
