  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. KDSG Security Update: Thursday 8th December 2022. Troops neutralize nine bandits in fierce battles in Giwa LGA. - Camps cleared, over a dozen women and children rescued.  Troops and Special Forces of the Nigerian Army made further gains in ongoing offensives as they neutralized a total of nine bandits during fierce battles in some locations in Giwa LGA.  It was disclosed in feedback to the Kaduna State Government that the troops cleared a bandit camp at a river line around Rafin Sarki and neutralized five bandits in the vicinity, while many others fled.  In another leg of the fierce encounter, the troops and Special Forces cleared a hideout around Galadimawa forest, where four bandits were engaged and neutralized. Kaduna Teachers To Protest On Monday Over Unpaid Salary The newly recruited secondary teachers by Kaduna state government are set to stage a peaceful protest on Monday 12th December 2022. According to them, the protest is as a result of the seven months salaries they are owed by the state government under Governor Nasiru El-Rufai. Recall that the teachers were handed letters of offer of provisional appointments on 19th July, 2021. According to them, they had to wait until 17th May, 2022 before they were deployed. Since their deployment, the government has not paid them their salaries despite the high cost of living the country is currently facing, they said.  They are calling on all the teachers concerned to converge at the state secretariat, ministry of education on Monday 12th December, 2022 to demand for justice for their unpaid seven months salaries. Over four thousand newly recruited teachers are expected to take part in the protest, they said.

‘Transgender’ Bags Two Year Jail Term for Internet Fraud in Makurdi The Makurdi Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, December 8, 2022, secured the conviction and sentencing of one Oblete Sunday Nazarethe before Justice N. DBANJ released on self recognizance after ICPC could not find anything incriminating on him. He is clean. It is an embarrassment to the entire country that such a huge allegation of 900m Naira without any evidence, yet made public unconfirmed. ICPC docks NSCDC Official over Alleged N12.2m Employment Scam The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has dragged a Superintendent of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Solomon Ogodo, to the dock over allegations bordering on forgery, employment racketeering and fraud. ICPC, in charge no: CR/503/2022 brought before Honourable Justice M.S. Idris of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, sitting in Jabi, Abuja, accused the defendant of defrauding unsuspecting job seekers to the tune of Twelve Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N12,200,000). In the 5-count charge, the Commission told the Court that the accused person on different occasions hoodwinked members of the public into parting with different sums of money in the guise of securing employments for their relatives in the Nigeria Correctional Services (NCoS). ACTDA Demolishes Illegally Acquired Properties On Proposed Government House, Awka Officials of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) have demolished and recovered illegally acquired lands and properties within the new Government House, Awka. The officials who were led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ossy Onuko, had officers from the various security agencies, members of the vigilante, among others. Explaining the essence of the exercise, the ACTDA Head of Development Control, Mr. Charles Ekwunife said that the agency had issued more than five warnings to the developers to stop work but none was obeyed. Anambra State Chief Judge, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu has discharged five inmates and granted bail to five others at Amawbia Correctional Centre, to mark the end of this year's jail delivery exercise. The cases for which they were detained include murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, burglary, stealing among others. The inmates discharged include Messers Chinedu Nnalue, Ifeanyi Ifekwulugo, Obinna Nwafor, Sunday Matthew and Michael Obiejesi. Ortom disclosed this on Thursday following his sympathy visit to his Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Chief Ekpe Ogbu who was recently kidnapped by herdsmen.
