 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. Riots in Dublin tonight  Three young children are among five people injured after a stabbing attack outside a school in Dublin city centre. Police said the three children, a man and a woman were taken to hospitals around Dublin shortly after 1.30pm. One of the children, a five-year-old girl, and a woman in her 30s are being treated for serious injuries. Parnell Square is now seeing rioting, buses & trams being set alight and shops being looted. The Booker Prize is the leading literary award in the English-speaking world and has brought recognition, reward, and readership to outstanding fiction for over five decades. Jamie Foxx was sued on Wednesday, Nov. 22, for allegedly s3xually assaulting a woman at a rooftop bar in New York in 2015. The woman, identified in the suit as Jane Doe, alleges that Foxx took her to a secluded corner of the Catch NYC rooftop lounge, rubbed her br£asts and gr0ped her under her p@nts against her will. According to the suit, the woman and a friend were seated at a table next to Foxx and Mark Birnbaum, the owner of the bar. At around 1 a.m., the woman’s friend got up and asked Foxx for a photo. Foxx agreed, and they took several photos.  Foxx then began complimenting the woman, according to the suit, saying “Wow, you have that super model body” and “You smell so good.” The suit also states that he said she looked like Gabrielle Union. Jigawa High Court Hands Down Life Imprisonment Sentence For Sodomizing ‘ALMAJIRI’ Pupils  In a ruling, the Jigawa State High Court situated in Birnin Kudu presided over by His Lordship Justice Musa Ubale, has sentenced Israfilu Sagiru, a 25-year-old resident of Zarena Village in Birnin Kudu LGA, of the State, to life imprisonment.  The Public Relations Officer of the State Ministry of Justice, Zainab Baba Santali in a statement in Dutse says the conviction stems from the heinous act of Rape, as defined in Section 3 (1) (e) of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law (VAPP) No. 02, 2021. It explains that Mr. Sagiru was brought before the High Court on September 5, 2021, facing two counts of rape.  He was accused of luring and sodomizing two ‘almajiri’ pupils, aged 11 and 12, under the false pretense of providing them with new clothes.  The illicit acts involved unlawful anal intercourse with the minors.  Agreeing with Hamas, right decision – Israeli Prime Minister Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu has said a cease-fire arrangement with Islamist Hamas to trade citizens was the correct move. He stated this at a press conference in Tel Aviv, stressing that the battle will continue even after the agreement to exchange Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners is implemented. Netanyahu stressed that the fighting will continue until Israel has achieved all of its objectives. Up to 100 Israeli hostages could be swapped for up to 300 Palestinian inmates in Israeli jails. Netanyahu described the return of the captives as an ethical duty and stated that every chance would be used to eventually rescue all hostages captured when Hamas militants assaulted Israel on October 7, murdering over 1,200 people. Central Bank Governor Olayemi Cardozo Set to Address the Nation Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Olayemi Cardozo will reportedly address the nation by 7 pm on Friday (tomorrow). The development was disclosed by a source close to the CBN governor, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The address will afford Cardozo the opportunity to explain the monetary policy of the CBN and plans to halt the fall of the national currency, the Naira. The address will be the first public engagement by Cardozo since he was appointed CBN Governor by President Bola Tinubu over two months ago.

EFCC Arrests Five Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Makurdi Operatives of the Makurdi Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested five suspected internet fraudsters in the Makurdi metropolis, Benue State. They were arrested on Thursday, November 23, 2023 following credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet-related offences. The suspects are: Stanley Tochukwu, Desmond Tochukwu, Dennis Emeka, George Ebuka and Arinze Odo. Items recovered from the suspects are: phones, power bank, ATM cards and some cash. NIGERIA TARGETS 750,000 METRIC TONNES OF COCOA IN 10 YEARS  Federal Government is targeting to raise the production of Cocoa to 750,000 metric tonnes by the year 2032. Currently, the production of Cocoa has been pegged at 340,000 thousand below Ghana and Ivory Coast who jointly produce about 60% of the crop globally. The Ministry of Trade and Investment stated that the goal is to be achieved by a 10-year roadmap which have been developed by stakeholders in the Cocoa production. The representative of the Permanent Secretary of the ministry of Trade and Investment, Tuayeringha Gana who stated this at a stakeholders forum on the implementation of the 10 years National Cocoa Plan (2023-2032) in Abuja, said the target was in line with the global Cocoa agenda. REPS RAISE ALARM OVER TREASURY SINGLE ACCOUNT  House of Representatives has expressed concern over the Remita platform, which manages the Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account (TSA). The lower chamber declared trillions of naira had been transferred through the Remita platform and that the monies were unaccounted for due to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) proliferation of sub-accounts through a motion by Jeremiah Umaru (APC; Akwanga/Nasarawa Egon/Wamba). The House of Reps is concerned that unless this issue is solved, the government will continue to lose money. The money are unaccounted for as a result of the CBN’s growth of sub-accounts, according to the Household.

Jaiz Bank appoints Musa MD Nigeria’s premier and largest non-interest bank, Jaiz Bank Plc has appointed Mr. Haruna Musa as the substantive managing director. The appointment has been approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Musa, whose appointment took effect on November 21, 2023, succeeded Ahmed Hassan who will proceed on retirement at the end of this year. Appeal Court reverses sack of Nasarawa Gov Sule The Court of Appeal in Abuja has reversed the October 2 judgment of the Nasarawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sacking Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC). A three-member panel of the court held that the tribunal was wrong to have declined to determine the legal issues identified in the objection raised by the APC and Sule, challenging its jurisdiction to hear the petition by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, David Ombugadu and the competence of the petition. The court held that the petitioners at the tribunal – PDP and Ombugadu – failed to prove their allegations of over-voting and non-compliance with the Electoral Act. The court, having delivered judgment on the main appeal, is giving its decisions on the remaining three cross-appeals.
