 PRESS RELEASE FG Flags Off  Three Major Water Supply Projects to Boost Access in Benue State The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, has flagged off three critical water supply projects in Benue State as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubuā€™s Renewed Hope Agenda.  The projects which includes rehabilitation and upgrading of the Buruku-Gboko Water Supply Project, Rehabilitation and Improvement of the Wannune Water Supply Project, and Construction of the Ugbema Water Supply Project are aimed at expanding access to potable water, improving public health, and mitigating the prevalence of waterborne diseases in the state. Speaking at the flag off ceremony in Gboko, Benue State, on March 27, 2025, the Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. NIGERIAN TROOPS ENCOUNTERED ARMED MILITIA IN BENUE STATE.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

Troops deployed in operation WHIRL STROKE on 4 August 2018 while on clearance operation along Gbajimba - Akor axis in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State encountered armed militia men with large herds of cattle. 2. The troops dislodged the armed militia men from their camp following a superior fire power. 3. Unspecified number of the armed militia men have been suspected to be killed by the troops while others escaped into nearby bushes with gun shot wounds. 4. Efforts are on to get other fleeing members of the armed militia men by the troops. 5. Items recovered include: a. One AK 47 rifle. b. Two AK 47 rifle magazines. c. 60 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition. d. Five motorcycles. 6.      1. Troops of operation LAFIYA DOLE on 4 August 2018 have arrested a wanted Boko Haram suspect, Maje Lawan at Banki in Borno State. 2. The suspect believed to be number 96 on the wanted list earlier published by the Army was apprehended after he infiltrated into the Internally Displaced Persons camp in the area. 3. The suspect is currently undergoing preliminary investigation and will be handed over to the appropriate authority for further action. 4. The public is reminded to be vigilance and to report any suspicious person, movements as well as activities to the law enforcement agents for prompt action. 5. INEC TO SUSPEND CONTINUOUS VOTER REGISTRATION ON AUGUST 17,2018.{PHOTO}.

      The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said that it would suspend the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) on August 17 until after the 2019 general elections. The decision, was taken following consultative meetings the commission had with major stakeholders in Nigeria in the electoral process. INEC has met with leaders of political parties, the media, civil society organisations and security agencies. The stakeholders stressed the need to comply with statutory timelines and unanimously agreed that sufficient time be given between the capture of data, its processing and the production of the PVCs. Given the activities necessary for this, the commission, acting on the recommendation of the stakeholders has decided to suspend the ongoing CVR at 3p.m on Friday, August 17, until after the general elections.
