OVER 25 MILLION PHONES STOLEN IN ONE YEAR- FG. (PHOTO).

 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. JOINT SECURITY FORCES SUCCESSFUL RAID UNDERWORLD CAMP, RESCUED EIGHTEEN ABDUCTED GIRLS. A joint forces of Military and DSS raided the hideout of underworld group at the outskirts of Belel town in Maiha Local Government Adamawa State, on Friday 23/7/2023. The success was resulted from intelligence of the group, who abducted underaged girls, forced them into prostitution, as well as supply them to armed groups and traffickers.  It was also learned that, the joint is equally a suspected Baby factory. As two of the girls are nursing toddlers and one other is pregnant. Two tenants, a male and a female, have abducted their neighbour's two children two weeks after moving into a room at Igbogene in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.    The children, identified as Son and Success, were allegedly abducted around 6pm on June 19, 2023.    It was gathered that the children were with their mother when the female neighbour came to take them out, claiming she wanted to go and buy snacks for them within the neighborhood. “He wants to marry me” – Man proposes marriage to Korra Obidi on 32nd birthday Popular singer and dancer, Korra Obidi clocked a new age today, 23rd June and has been celebrated by fans, friends, and followers. To mark her 32nd birthday, Korra Obidi and her friend visited an area made up of homeless people who barely have tents for shelter. They gave food, and other goodies to these less privileged individuals. Customized polos with Korra’s picture on it were also distributed among the people. However, as they were about to leave, one of the less privileged men obviously picked interest in Korra Obidi as he asked the lady who accompanied Korra whether she was her sister, the lady said yes and he went on to ask Korra Obidi certain questions. Korra Obidi however revealed her condition for marriage, saying he must have $12M before they can get marriage. In no time, Korra Obidi bade the man goodbye and slammed her car door as they headed home.

NAF TRAINS 200 PERSONNEL IN SUNDRY ADMINISTRATIVE COURSES A total of 200 personnel trained in sundry courses graduated yesterday, Friday 23 June 2023, from the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Administrative Management (NAFIAM) Kaduna. The graduates comprised 9 officers and 191 airmen/airwomen, who successfully completed one of the 9 courses organized by the institute. The courses include Initial Personnel Administration Management Officers Course, Integrated Basic Clerical Course, Basic Physical Education Course, Basic Catering Course, Basic Military Band Course, and Basic Information Assistant Certificate Course; all of which lasted for 6 months. Others include the Admin Upgrading A1 Course, Admin Upgrading A2 Course, and Advance Physical Education Course that lasted for 3 months. Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has been treated for breast cancer, her spokesman has said. The spokesman told Sky News: "Sarah, Duchess of York was recently diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer detected at a routine mammogram screening. "She was advised she needed to undergo surgery which has taken place successfully. "The duchess is receiving the best medical care and her doctors have told her that the prognosis is good. She is now recuperating with her family. "The duchess wants to express her immense gratitude to all the medical staff who have supported her in recent days. "She is also hugely thankful to the staff involved in the mammogram which identified her illness, which was otherwise symptom free, and believes her experience underlines the importance of regular screening."

By Chidinma Ikeanyionwu A pregnant woman Nebechi Achụ from Isuofia who was beaten to pulp by husband Chukwuemerie Anunobi a native of Aguluezechukwu both in Aguata local government area of the state has been rescued by the women and social welfare Commissioner, Hon Ify Obinabo. The rescue was as a result of a viral video on the internet where Nebechi was struggling for her life after the said incident. WOMEN AFFAIRS COMMISSIONER HANDS OVER ABANDONED BABY BY TEENAGE MOTHER TO GRANDMOTHER. By Chidinma Ikeanyionwu Anambra State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner Honourable Ify Obinabo has handed over baby abandoned by her teenage mother to grandmother.  The Women Affairs Commissioner who did the handing over in her office in Awka noted that the baby was brought to her by a doctor said that the young mother abandoned the child in his hospital after delivery. Reacting, Hon Obinabo lamented on the high rate of child abandonment among teenage girls and urged them to stop. She went ahead to charge parents to equally treat their girl children with love anytime there's such incident instead of sending them out to fend for themselves. Hon Obinabo though has reunited the newly born with her family strictly under the care of the grandmother has mandated them to always come to the ministry every two weeks to ensure that all conditions are met and strictly adhered to.

We’ll increase tariff next week- Abuja Electricity Distribution Company alerts consumers The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has notified its customers of an increase in electricity tariff effectively from July 1 2023. In a statement released on Sunday, June 25,  AEDC stated that the review was due to the fluctuation of the Naira in the exchange rate. The statement reads “Effective July 1st 2023, please be informed that there will be an upward review to the electricity tariff influenced by the fluctuating exchange rate.” Under the MYTO 2022 guidelines, the previously set exchange rate of N441/$1 may now be revised to approximately N750/$1 which will have an impact on the tariffs associated with your electricity consumption.” For customers within band B and C, with supply hours ranging from 12 to 16 per day, the new base tariff is expected to be N100 per kWh while Bands A with (20 hours and above) and B (16 to 20 hours) will experience comparatively higher tariffs. President Tinubu asked to probe Buhari, ex-ministers, service chiefs, others President Bola Tinubu has been urged to allow for a full-scale investigation into the immediate past administration led by the former president, Muhammadu Buhari. Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, who made the call in a tweet on his verified handle on Sunday, said the investigation should begin with Buhari, members of his cabinet, service chiefs and other cabals in the administration. According to Sani, if the probe is not extended to other aspects of the previous government, the president may be accused of being selective. Group raises alarm over open grazing, orders herders to vacate Imo community 25th Jun 2023  An Igbo youth group, Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), says it has uncovered illegal grazing of cattle in farmlands in Imo communities which have caused hardship among farmers. The group said no form of open grazing would be allowed in the entire Igboland, while calling for the arrest of some herdsmen who, they said, carry automatic rifles about in the course of grazing their cattle.
