The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria.  Man arrested posing as woman in Kano varsity female hostel Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kano State have arrested one Muhammad Munzali of Kaura Gidan Damo, Shanono Local Government Area of the state. The NSCDC operatives were attached to the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Department in the state. The arrest of the suspect was confirmed in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Ibrahim Abdullahi, a copy of which was made available to newsmen Friday. The suspect was apprehended around 10pm on Wednesday night by vigilant officers of the corps while sneaking into the female hostel of Skyline University Nigeria, situated along Sardauna Crescent, Nassarawa GRA, Kano State. “The suspect was said to have disguised and dressed in women’s garb and was found with local charms around his body,” the PRO said.  EFCC Arrests Barber, 11 other Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Uyo Operatives of the Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, on Thursday March 14, 2024, arrested a barber, and  eleven suspected internet fraudsters in a sting operation in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.   They were arrested following credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet-related offences. Items recovered from them include sophisticated mobile phones, laptops and WiFi routers. The suspects will be charged to court as soon as  investigations are concluded.

 Man Beaten To Death By Curfew-Enforcing Patrol Team In Nassarawa Eggon, Buried Today .  EARLIER REPORT: Patrol Team Beats Man To Death Over Alleged Violation Of Curfew Order In Nassarawa Eggon  *** A patrol team enforcing the 10pm to 6am curfew in Nassarawa Eggon have beaten a mentally-unstable resident to death over alleged violation.  The incident according to reports occurred on Sunday night after the deceased, Gabriel Bafu, allegedly violated the curfew order imposed by the council authority months ago as part of measures to tackle the lingering insecurity in the Area.  A family source who also confirmed the incident said the curfew-enforcing patrol team beat him to stupor and dumped him at the entrance of the family residence where he later died.  The corpse of the deceased has since been deposited at the mortuary and matter reported to the security.

 Kogi to EFCC: Yahaya Bello is clean — government funds not missing The Kogi government says funds belonging to the state did not go missing under Yahaya Bello, its immediate past governor. On Thursday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) named Bello in an amended charge filed against Alli Bello. Alli, chief of staff to Usman Ododo, current governor of the state, and one Daudu Suleiman, are the two defendants in the 17-count amended charge. The EFCC alleged that the suspects diverted about N100 billion belonging to the state in September 2015 — about four months before Bello assumed office as governor.  Army Arrests Nine Fake Soldiers In Lagos The 81 Division Nigerian Army has apprehended nine individuals who were masquerading as soldiers and engaging in criminal activities in Lagos State. The Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Ayeni, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.  Over Sixty Million Nigerians At Risk of Glaucoma – ODORBN Optometrists and Dispensing Optician Registration Board of Nigeria, ODORBN, says over sixty million Nigerians are at risk of glaucoma disease in the country. The Registrar of the Board, Dr. Obinna Awiaka made this known at a media briefing to commemorate this year’s Glaucoma week in Abuja. According to Dr Awiaka, ‘’the World Glaucoma Week is a global initiative of the World Glaucoma Association aimed at raising awareness about the eye disease. The suspect, Ternia Samuel, was apprehended at the RRS headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja. The suspect had made away with the car key of a sympathizer who came soliciting for the release of Samuel's unregistered Denstar motorcycle from RRS officials in Dopemu, Agege. This incidenct happened on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at about 2200 hrs, when RRS operatives on patrol intercepted Samuel's unregistered motorcycle with a passenger on Dopemu Bridge.
