  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. T.Y Danjuma donates $1.36million USD to UI college of medicine A former Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Theophilus Danjuma, has donated a total of $1,363,108.43 to the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (CoMUI) to build hostel for students. The donation made through the T.Y Danjuma Foundation, was in response to an earlier request by the College towards the realissation of the student hostel building project. The sum, which will be used to build the Block D of the hostels is said to be the highest donation so far by an individual to the course of the project. The Provost, CoMUI, Professor Olayinka Omigbodun made the disclosure during a joint press conference organised by the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan and the Ibadan College of Medicine Alumni Association (ICOMAA) shortly after the turning of sod of the hostel facility to be built with the donation. Service extension: FG owes 600 teachers 23-month arrears No fewer than 600 teachers in the federal civil service, precisely under the Federal Ministry of Education and the Federal Ministry of Defence, who benefited from the Federal Government service elongation package for teachers, are currently being owed 23 months salaries, investigations by The PUNCH revealed on Sunday. The PUNCH reports that service elongation for teachers was introduced by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. Hamas gunmen killed around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and captured around 240 more as hostages, according to Israel, when they surged over the militarised Gaza border. AFP reports that the Hamas government said more than 5,500 children were among the dead, alongside 3,500 women, with 30,000 more people wounded. AMCON to release 350 top debtors’ list at bankers’ summit The House of Representatives have asked the leadership of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) to release the list of its 350 top debtors at a Bankers’ Summit being planned by the legislators. The Lagos State Government on Saturday commenced the demolition of distressed buildings in the Ebute-Metta area of the State.  The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide led the demolition exercise in the company of the General Manager, Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Arc. SAD: Student dr0wns during swimming expedition in Abia State .  Abia Poly student and only son of his parents drowned in a River in Umuahia while swimming.  A young man, Chidera Keneth, believed to be a student of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, has drowned in the Umuchime River in Umuahia. The student, who was said to be the only male child of his parents, drowned in the river, the weekend while trying to ‘cool off’ during a hot afternoon, with some of his friends who came with him for a swimming expedition. According to the report, gathered that Chidera did not understand the tide and depth of the river before jumping in to swim. #annyglobal

Moet Abebe claimed that side chicks are more interested in making money off married guys than listening to them talk about problems that are meant for their wives. Osun govt denies removal of Chief Judge The Osun State Government has said Governor Ademola Adeleke neither removed the State’s Chief Judge, Justice Adepele Ojo, nor appointed anyone in acting capacity. This is contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr Kolapo Alimi, on Sunday in Osogbo. Alimi explained the governor had only forwarded the resolution of the House of Assembly and recommendations for an acting appointment to the Chief Justice of the Federation for his action.
