 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

CRASHED HELICOPTER NOT FROM NAF, PAF.[PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

        The attention of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has been drawn to various reports in the media purporting that the Augusta AW139 Helicopter, which was involved in a mishap in Kabba, Kogi State yesterday, 2 February 2019, while conveying the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, belonged to the NAF or was from the 011 Presidential Air Fleet (011 PAF). Some unscrupulous/undiscerning individuals have even gone so far as to circulate a video  showing the crash landing of a military helicopter, from an unrelated incident, which neither occured in Nigeria nor involved NAF or 011 PAF aircraft, portraying it as the one that crashed in Kabba. The NAF wishes to state categorically that the helicopter that crashed in Kabba does not belong to the NAF or 011 PAF. The owners/operators of the civilian helicopter, Messrs Caverton Helicopters, have already issued a statement on the matter.         REPORT OF FATAL CRASH ON THE ABEOKUTA-SAGAMU ROAD ON SUNDAY 03 FEB  2019  At about  1300Hrs,  along the , ABEOKUTA -SAGAMU road around  Shiun a  black KIA CERATO Car on high speed ,suffered a burst tyre and the driver was suspected to have applied break suddenly, which led to him loosing control of the speeding car that left it's lane ,climbing the road divider and raced to  the opposite direction where the car collided with a passenger bus, a grey coloured  TOYOTA SPORTS SPACE BUS , that was traveling from Abeokuta towards Sagamu. The unfortunate crash  killed all the occupants of the two illfated vehicles . The suspected   cause of the crash is  tyre burst and  speeding, . LAGOS MARATHON: ETHIOPIANS DISLODGED KENYANS AS WINNERS OF TOP PRIZES YESTERDAY.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

       East Africans on Saturday retained their dominance of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon carting away the star prizes in the male and female categories of $50,000 each. This time around, however, an Ethiopian, Sintatehu Legese won the star prize of $50, 000 in the male category finishing the race in 2 hours, 17 minutes and 28 seconds to beat defending champion, Joshua Kiprotich from Kenya who breast the tape in 2 hours, 18 minutes and 16 seconds to emerge first runner up with a prize money of $40,000. Kiprotich’s compatriot, William Yegon came third in the time of 2 hours, 19 minutes and four seconds, winning $30,000. In the female category, it was a clean sweep for Ethiopia as the trio of Meseret Dinke, Alemenesh Herpha Guta and Kebena Chala finished first, second and third to win $50,000, $40,000 and $30,000 respectively.         OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT   PRESS RELEASE   Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, departed Abuja around 1pm today {yesterday} on a Chopper ride to Kogi State in continuation of the Family Chats & Next Level engagements. Prof. Osinbajo headed first to Kabba, and while landing at the Kabba Stadium, the Helicopter suddenly skidded sideways until it halted on its side few metres away from the intended resting spot. Alongside VP Osinbajo, the Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Prof. Stephen Ocheni, senior presidential aides, security officials and the crew; there were a total of 12 people on board. Everyone came out safely after the incident. We are grateful to God for His protection and safety, and we thank the crew and security personnel for their prompt response and service.
