 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

  • Says morale amongst men remains high The Inspector General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu NPM Mni has condemned the attack on a security convoy in Borno State by armed men suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists. It would be recalled that the convoy came under attack on Friday 25th September, 2020 along Monguno – Cross Kawua road as it was heading to the ancient town of Baga, as part of collective efforts at restoring civil authority in the community. The IGP has also directed the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Police Medical Services, Olubunmi Ogunsanwo to work in sync with the Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command CP Bello Makwashi and the Police Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO) towards ensuring adequate provision of Medicare for the officers injured during the attack.   A Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin today reserved sentencing of an internet fraud suspects who pleaded guilty to four-counts of fraud brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, till October 6, 2020. Itanola Abdulsamad a 21-year-old student, was docked before Justice Sikiru Oyinloye on a four-count charge, bordering on cheating by impersonation, attempt to cheat and internet fraud. Count two of the charge reads: "That you, Itanola Abdulsamad, Popoola Afolami (at large) and Olayeni Yemi (at large) sometime between 2018 and 2019, at Ilorin within the judicial division of the Kwara State High Court fraudulently induced several unsuspecting foreigners vide the internet to deliver to you digital currency from which you benefited $950 (nine hundred and fifty United States Dollars) and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 321 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 324 of the same Penal Code " When the charges were read,

  President Muhammadu Buhari mourns Mr. Gabriel Igboanugo, 95, a man he fondly used to call ‘Daddy’ when he was General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3rd Armoured Division of the Nigerian Army, Jos, Plateau State. Pa Igboanugo was the Principal Education Officer at Command Secondary School, Jos, and had a close and amicable relationship with the then GOC. Lady Margaret Igboanugo, in a private letter to President Buhari, writes: “My husband, whom you used to fondly call ‘Daddy,’ passed away the way he lived; peacefully and in comfort, in his home in Ihiala, Anambra State. He will be buried there on Friday, November 27, 2020.” The President commiserates with the Igboanugo family, urging them to take solace in the fact that their patriarch lived to a ripe old age, and touched the lives of countless number of people that came across his way.
