  Abia Govt appeals to community leaders for assistance as new teachers reject postings to villages Abia State government has appealed to traditional rulers and presidents general of rural communities in the state to arrange accommodations for newly employed teachers posted to schools in their villages. The appeal is coming on the heels of reports that many of the 4,074 newly employed teachers in the state who were posted  to rural communities, rejected the postings. Some of the teachers complained the postings would separate them from their families and cause accommodation challenges. They also complained about high transport costs to the rural schools. But addressing journalists in Umuahia on Wednesday over the matter, Abia State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Goodluck Ubochi, appealed to the leaders of various communities in the state to accommodate the new teachers in their homes while the state government perfects arrangements for permanent solution to th...

               51 years old M.C Hammer real name Stanley Kirk Burrel,has filed papers in court of Appeal against a ruling that awards the I.R.S nearly $800,000 in back taxes,saying that he had already resolved the issue.He was sued three years ago by the I.R.S with his wife Stephanie,claiming he was in red to the tune of $798,033.48 for back taxes in the year 1996 and 1997.The judgement was upheld by a judge Dec 3,with a stipulation that all the M.C Hammer future royalties be forwarded to the Government until the debt is settled,that was why M.C Hammer headed to appeal court.There he stated in court documents that the previous ruling should be voided,as he had settled the red ink vis a vis the terms of a bankruptcy agreement.In the court documents,M.C Hammer lawyers asked if officials might have an error in considering details of the previous agreement.                           ...

DOCTORS CALL FOR TOTAL BAN ON SALE OF CIGARETTES TO ANYONE BORN AFTER 2000.

           As adapted from an international article.Medical experts have called for a permanent ban on selling cigarrattes to anyone born in this century in a bid to eradicate smoking from Britain entirely.The radical plan would see the age limit for buying tobacco.Currently set at 18 rise every year until the last cigarette smokers died out,at which point smoking would be illegal for everyone.Doctors have asked the powerful British medical Association to lobby the Government for a ban on tobacco sales to people born after the year 2000.Smoking causes diseases such as lung cancer and emphesyma.
