The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Actress Adunni Ade Denies Owing Late Murphy Afolabi N250,000 Popular actress, Adunni Ade, has denied owing her late colleague, Murphy Afolabi, N250,000 before he died. The actress made this known in a statement signed by her lawyer which was shared on her Instagram account on Tuesday. Labour Party appeals Kano Court judgement nullifying Alex Otti’s candidature May 23, 2023      Following a Federal High Court ruling in Kano that nullified the candidature of the Abia State governor-elect, Alex Otti, in the March 18 governorship election, the Labour Party has filed an appeal against the judgement. The court’s ruling stemmed from a case, numbered FHC/KN/CS/107/2023, brought by Mr Ibrahim Haruna Ibrahim against the Labour Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission. The court determined that the selection process leading to the emergence of Abia State Governor-elect, Alex Otti, and other Labur Party candidates did not comply with the requirements stipulated in the 2022 electoral act. One of the crucial points raised in the lawsuit was the Labour Party’s failure to submit its membership register to INEC at least 30 days prior to their primaries, which the court deemed a violation, thereby invalidating the entire selection process. Insecurity: FG Sets N15 Billion Aside For Safety Of School Children – Minister Reveals  May 23, 2023      The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed has disclosed that the Federal Government has set aside the sum of N15 billion in the 2023 budget for the safety of school children. Akelicious reports that the money according to the minister was set aside to ensure the safety of children in school due to the series of violent attacks and kidnapping of school children in various parts of the country. The minister, who made this disclosure at the training of safe school administrators in Abuja said the federal government could not come to terms with having more out-of-school children because of issues bothering insecurity. MAKINDE DISSOLVES CABINET  Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has dissolved his cabinet, in preparation for the official handover ceremony to a new administration on 29th May, 2023. Similarly, the Governor equally terminated the appointments of political office holders, urging them to handover government properties in their custody. This was announced in a letter dated 23rd of May, 2023 and signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor and Chairman, Transition & Inauguration Committee, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi. The letter stated that the termination of appointment of all political officeholders takes effect from (Today), Tuesday, May 23, 2023. He thanked them for their contributions to the development of Oyo State and wishes them success in their future endeavours. It however added that “please note that political officeholders in statutory commissions are excluded from this directive".
