 INEC Adhoc Staff In Anambra State Protest Again Over Non-payment Of Stipends Adhoc staff of Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC, Anambra State, have staged a peaceful protest over non-payment of stipend after the just concluded general elections.  The adhoc workers who include collation Officers, SPOs among others staged the protest at the state headquarters of INEC in  Awka. The group who were visibly angry at the delay in payment of their dues after the election,besieged the INEC headquarters long before the Resident Electoral Commissioner,Dr.Mrs Queen Elizabeth Agwu arrived at her office for the day's work. In an interview,some of the adhoc workers,Dr Chidebele Obi and Lady Theresa Mgbatogu said most of them have not been paid for the election duty they carried out since March 2023. Actress Adunni Ade Denies Owing Late Murphy Afolabi N250,000 Popular actress, Adunni Ade, has denied owing her late colleague, Murphy Afolabi, N250,000 before he died. The actress made this known in a statement signed by her lawyer which was shared on her Instagram account on Tuesday. A Muslim cleric called out the actress Adunni Ade during the eight days Fidau prayer for the late actor on Monday. The cleric called out Adunni and other Nollywood actors for owing Afolabi before his death. Labour Party appeals Kano Court judgement nullifying Alex Otti’s candidature May 23, 2023      Following a Federal High Court ruling in Kano that nullified the candidature of the Abia State governor-elect, Alex Otti, in the March 18 governorship election, the Labour Party has filed an appeal against the judgement. The court’s ruling stemmed from a case, numbered FHC/KN/CS/107/2023, brought by Mr Ibrahim Haruna Ibrahim against the Labour Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission. The court determined that the selection process leading to the emergence of Abia State Governor-elect, Alex Otti, and other Labur Party candidates did not comply with the requirements stipulated in the 2022 electoral act. Insecurity: FG Sets N15 Billion Aside For Safety Of School Children – Minister Reveals  May 23, 2023      The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed has disclosed that the Federal Government has set aside the sum of N15 billion in the 2023 budget for the safety of school children. Akelicious reports that the money according to the minister was set aside to ensure the safety of children in school due to the series of violent attacks and kidnapping of school children in various parts of the country. MAKINDE DISSOLVES CABINET  Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has dissolved his cabinet, in preparation for the official handover ceremony to a new administration on 29th May, 2023. Similarly, the Governor equally terminated the appointments of political office holders, urging them to handover government properties in their custody. This was announced in a letter dated 23rd of May, 2023 and signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor and Chairman, Transition & Inauguration Committee, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi. The letter stated that the termination of appointment of all political officeholders takes effect from (Today), Tuesday, May 23, 2023. He thanked them for their contributions to the development of Oyo State and wishes them success in their future endeavours.
