 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. EFCC NABS 5 SUSPECTED INTERNET FRAUDSTERS IN UYO TODAY.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Uyo zonal office, on Wednesday April 3, 2019, arrested five internet fraudsters in a sting operation. The suspects are Uchendu Denis, Osinachi Sam David, Chikezie Bright, Francis Martins and Okafor Emmanuel. They were arrested at Nsini Odeyop Street, Shelter Afrik Estate, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, following intelligence report of their suspicious activities. At the time of arrest, it was discovered that the suspects, who were lodging in a 3 bedroom flat, used one of the rooms for their cyber crime activities. Items recovered from them include: one hundred and twenty three sim cards, including a Turkish sim card, six Laptops, thirteen expensive mobile phones, several books and diaries containing several phone numbers and over three hundred email addresses, amongst others. They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.One more photo below.

      Justice Danlami Senchi of a Federal Capital Territory, FCT High Court, sitting in Jabi has sentenced one Enabulele Osazee Frank, who posed as a United States Major Barnett Edward to 30 days in prison with an option of N25,000 as fine. Enabulele was among six suspected “yahoo yahoo boys" arrested in Abuja, by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on May 11, 2018 through a sting operation following intelli gence report on their activities. He was arraigned on April 3, 2019 on an amended one-count charge bordering on attempt to cheat. The count reads: “That you, Enabulele Osazee Frank (aka United States Major Barnett Edward) sometime in 2018 in Abuja within the Abuja Judicial Division of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, did attempt to commit cheating and in such attempt posed to be United State Major Barnett Edward, an American soldier deployed to Afghanistan on peace keeping mission in a bid to fraudulently induce one Camela Johnson

       The Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (LSCPWB) has commenced the administrative/medical screening, a statutory prerequisite programme, for those who intend to participate in the yearly pilgrimage. The orientation and screening exercise, which is geared towards ensuring that prospective pilgrims are physically and psychologically equipped, is also designed to ascertain their level of fitness for the 2019 Easter pilgrimage  exercise as well as validate all travelling documents. Addressing the over 250 intending pilgrims at the Chapel of Christ, Alausa, Ikeja, on Tuesday, the Board Secretary of Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (CPWB), Mrs. Yetunde Gbafe, affirmed that the exercise has curbed the issue of abscondment and unruly conduct of pilgrims, saying that there have not been reported cases of pilgrims fleeing from the State contingent while on pilgrimage in recent years.
