  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. LAGOS SIGNS 'MOU'' TODAY WITH AWIEF ON $300M FUND TO EMPOWER WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS.{PHOTOS}.

          Lagos State Government today tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding {MOU} with African Women Innovation and Enterpreneurship Forum {AWIEF} expected to facilitate the process of ensuring that women entrepreneurs have access to $300 million fund to boost their businesses.The State's Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget,Mr Akinyemi Ashade,who disclosed this to journalists yesterday at a media briefing at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa,said the $300 million is a women's Economic Empowerment Fund set aside by African Development Bank {AFDB} for empowering Africa women.Ashade said ''Lagos Women Economic Empowerment Initiative {LAGOSWEEIN} is an initiative designed for the women of Lagos state for the purpose of ensuring enterpreneurial capacity building,business skills upgrade and preparedness as well as to facilitate access to finance and other services within the framework of affirmative Finance Action.Today's signing of partnership a

SUSPECTED BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS ATTACK KWANG AND BOFTARI VILLAGES YESTERDAY.

                    Yesterday,at about 5.00pm suspected elements of Boko Haram terrorists,scavenging for food,attacked Kwang village and Vigilantes from Dagu {which is about 4 kilometers from Kwang},responded and repelled the terrorists attack.During the fire that ensued,one of the vigilantes sustained gun shot wound on his hand and was evacuated to General Hospital Uba while the terrorists fled with gun shot wounds.Troops were eventually despatched to the area with clear orders to pursue and deal with the terrorists.They are still exploiting.Similarly,same day,at about 4.35pm some suspected remnants of Boko Haram terrorists attacked Boftari which is abiut 15 kilometers from Chibok town.On receipt of the information,troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE stationed in Forward Operation Base Chibok,mobilized to the area.The troops encountered Boko Haram terrorists ambushed site shortly before Kuburmbula village.They quickly cleared the ambush and proceeded to Boftari.Unfortunately,the terrorist

A PETROL TANKER CRASHED KILLING ABOUT 6 PEOPLE YESTERDAY ALONG UYO-CALABAR HIGHWAY.{PHOTO}.

                    According to PM News,at least six persons were feared dead in a petrol tanker crash which occurred at Kilometre 8,Obong Itam,along Uyo-Calabar highway around 8:30 pm yesterday monday.It was learnt that the driver,in a hurry to escape police arrest,sped off and crashed into the pavement along the highway.The News Agency of Nigeria {NAN} learnt that a tricycle was trapped and the passengers in the tricycle died in the inferno.According to an eye witness,Mr Cyril Ekpenyong from Obong Itam,the tricycle rider,was taken to a hospital,but died thereafter.Ekpenyong said that the driver refused to stop when the police flagged the truck to stop,but the police did not pursue the vehicle.He said that the thinking of truck driver was that the police team was pursuing him as he had poor lighting even at the rear.''We saw the truck as thee police were trying to flag it down because it was driving with one headlamp which was not even bright.The driver did not mind the poli
