 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

        Ekiti State Governor, Chief Ayodele Fayose, has said there is no hiding place for those involved on cult activities and kidnapping in the state, saying the long arm of the law will soon catch up with them. This is just as he gave security agencies in the state the marching order to fish out those involved in the killing of two students of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti. The Governor said he will eject cultists from tertiary institutions in the state just in the same way he ended herdsmen menace in Ekiti. He stated this in Ado-Ekiti while featuring in an interview programme on state radio and television. In a statement on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, the governor also said security agents had been placed on the alert to secure some points in the state that some people wanted to turn to kidnapping spots.   Senate President Saraki said today that  '' Today, I met with representatives of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) responsible for the welfare of Nigerian Students on scholarships abroad who are now stranded due to non-payment of their living allowances and tuition fees by relevant government agencies. At the meeting, I directed the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB) to present a comprehensive report of all Nigerian students on scholarship abroad and their outstanding entitlements to the relevant committees of  the Senate to enable the Senate make Appropriations for their settlement. Additionally, I have called for a comprehensive review of all scholarship policies in the country — through oversight — in order save Nigeria from future embarrassment.   The EFCC today November 1,2017 closed its case aganist one House of Representatives Member representing Mashi Dutsi constituency in Katsina State,Mansur Ali Mashi and a former bank manager Zainab Rufai Yusuf.The duo were arraigned by the Commission for allegedly colluding together and fraudulently embezzled the sum of N35,000,000 {Thirty Five Million Naira Only} from First City Monument Bank where the first defendant Zainab Rufai formely worked as a branch manager  .The f raud was perpetrated through fraudulent account opening. It was said that at least 35 accounts were opened in the name of different customers without their knowledge. When the purported account owners were invited to the Commission, they revealed that the first second defendant Mansur, only collected their passport photographs on the pretext that he would give them big jobs or secured loan facility for them. AIRPORT SECURITY: BAUCHI STATE GOVERNMENT SIGNS MoU WITH THE NIGERIAN AIR FORCE.{PHOTOS}

         The Bauchi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on the dual usage of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport Bauchi. The signing of the MoU took place on 26 October 2017 at the Headquarters of the NAF Special Operations Command Bauchi. The MoU would provide the legal framework necessary to enable the NAF contribute to the security o f the Airport. Besides, it would provide professional services necessary for the day-to-day operation of the Airport. Signing the MoU on behalf of the NAF, the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Special Operations Command, Air Vice Marshal Sadique Kaita, stated that the MoU further underscores the deep and cordial relationship between the Bauchi State Government and the NAF to ensure safe operation of flights in and out of Bauchi. ALEX EKWUEME COLLAPSES AT HOME AND GOES INTO COMA YESTERDAY+ADMITTED IN ENUGU HOSPITAL.{PHOTO}.

      Second republic Vice-President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, has collapsed and is currently at the Intensive Care Unit of Memfys Hospital for Neurosurgery, by Penok petrol station in Trans-Ekulu, Enugu State. Media source learnt on Tuesday night that Ekwueme collapsed around 2am last Saturday, at his residence in Independence Layout, Enugu.The development comes barely 10 days (October 10) after he celebrated his 85th birthday. Family members close to our correspondent said that the former vice-president went into coma soon after he collapsed. “He was trying to get something from the table when he suddenly collapsed and immediately someone raised the alarm, we proceeded to revive him while cautious enough not to attract neighbours,” a relative, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said. DEATH SENTENCE FOR CULTISTS IN EKITI.{READ}.

     Ekiti State Government is proposing a bill in the House of Assembly that will prescribe death penalty for anybody found engaging in cultism or related activities in the state. Also, the proposed bill will prescribe life jail for anybody who houses or support cultism in the state. This is just as life sentence will be the portion of anybody found to have raped any woman. This was disclosed on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti by Governor Ayodele Fayose, during an interactive session with farmers in the state. The governor, who expressed disgust with the spate of cult killings in the state, said the government would not watch while the state is turned to a battle field by cultists. Recall that in the last 10 days, no fewer than three students of the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti were murdered by suspected cultists in different parts of the state capital.
