 Customs Lagos Industrial Command Rolls Out Achievements in 7 Months  Newly promoted Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Nsikan Umoh, who was before now in charge of Lagos Industrial Command has highlighted the achievements of the command within 7 months. In her valedictory press briefing at the command, on Friday, 17 May 2024, ACG Umoh announced that the command collected revenue to the tune of N17 billion.  She explained that the revenue generated was between October 2023 to April 2024. According to her, "The monthly generated revenue collection from November 2023 has been averagely between 2.4 billion to 2.5 billion. With overwhelming support and cooperation of traders, brokers, and our dedicated officers, we were able to generate N4,251,165,917.07 in the month of April which is the highest recorded in about two decades."  71-year-old landlord arrested for impregnating tenant’s teenage daughter The Ogun State Police Command said it had arrested a septuagenarian landlord, identified simply as Adesina, for allegedly defiling and impregnating his tenant’s 14-year-old girl (name withheld) at Akegbeyale Street in Ifesowapo Akute, Ifo Local Government Area of the state. PUNCH Metro learnt that the residents and other tenants were thrown into a state of shock when the septuagenarian suspect was found on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, having sexual intercourse with the 14-year-old girl at about 10:15 pm in the house bathroom. Little did she know she was getting ready to have the fishing story of a lifetime.   Jaylen pulled in a 101.11 lb blue catfish, an Ohio state record if confirmed by the state!  Jaylen admits her dad and his friend helped her wrangle in this massive fish. She says she only weighs 10 lbs more than her humongous catch so there was no way she could have pulled it in by herself. He entered a burning home 3 separate times to save an 11-month-old baby. 62-Year-old John Stickovich was headed to work on Monday when he came upon a scary scene.  Smoke and flames were pouring from a 2 story home. John noticed firefighters had not arrived on scene yet and a woman was sitting on the lawn holding a baby while waiting for firefighters.  John ran up to her and asked if she was alright and she immediately informed him that her 11-month-old baby was inside.  CBN releases licensed Deposit Money Banks By Samuel Oamen The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released a comprehensive list of 44 licensed Deposit Money Banks operating within the country. The apex bank made this public in a post on its official website on Tuesday. According to CBN, seven banks, including Zenith Bank, Access Bank, First Bank, First City Monument Bank, United Bank of Africa, Fidelity, and Guaranty Trust Bank, have Commercial Banking licenses with international authorisation as of April 26, 2024. Also, fifteen banks have commercial banking licenses with National Authorisation. Four banks have commercial banking licenses with regional authorisation and four non-interest banks have national authorisation. The bank said the country has six merchant banks licensed with national authorization. It stated that financial holding companies increased to seven.  CBN extends suspension of cash deposit charges The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has extended the suspension of charges on cash deposits above certain thresholds. The new directive, effective immediately, will see Nigerians continuing to deposit cash without incurring processing fees until September 30th, 2024. This announcement comes after a brief period of confusion. On May 1st, banks resumed charging processing fees on cash deposits, in response to the CBN’s “Guide to Charges by Banks, Other Financial Institutions and Non-Bank Financial Institutions” issued in December 2019. These fees were two per cent for individual accounts exceeding N500,000 and three per cent for corporate accounts exceeding N3 million. The CBN, in a new circular signed by Adetona Adedeji, Director of Banking Supervision, referred to a previous suspension of these charges implemented in December 2023 and officially extended that suspension until the end of the third quarter of 2024. The latest circular reads:
