 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. Operative Of Nigeria's Secret Police, DSS Shot Dead In Imo An operative of the Department of State Services (DSS) identified as Prince Nwachinaemere Ezemuonye Ozuzu has been shot dead in Owerri, the Imo state capital. Daily Trust reports that the officer, from Umuoyo, Irete in the Owerri West Local Government Area of the state was murdered on Owerri-Onitsha Road. The incident came less than 48 hours after gunmen burnt the DSS office in Nnewi, Anambra State. The officer was said to have been deployed for an official duty in Anambra a few hours after the burning of the DSS office in Nnewi. He was said to have been killed while returning to his station. The details of the incident are still sketchy as another account said that he was killed by an accidental discharge. In aftermath of the flag-off of three Nigerian Army Field Training Exercises on Monday 4 October 2021 at Emene in Enugu state,  the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has commenced an  operational assessment of the conduct of units and formations in Ebonyi and Anambra States respectively. General Yahaya's first port of call was 24 Support Engineer Regiment in Abakaliki, where he listened to operational brief from the Commanding Officer and afterwards, charged the troops to be professional in their conduct during and after the exercise. He assured them of support to carryout their tasks effectively. While in Abakaliki, the COAS paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State,  Engineer Dave Nwaeze Umahi. Mr. Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on the 30th of September 2021 assented to the Administration of Criminal Justice (Amendment) Law [ACJL] of Lagos State, 2021. The ACJL was first passed in Lagos State in 2007 and amended in 2011 (more than ten (10) years ago) to ensure the Fundamental Rights of suspects and persons that come into contact with the justice system, as enshrined in the Constitution are protected. In a bid to further strengthen the justice system, promote the rights of victims and suspects as well as address the issue of delay in the Administration of Criminal Justice in Lagos State, key innovative provisions have been introduced as amendments to the Law.  The provisions include conducting criminal proceedings through audio and video conferencing platform, powers of Chief Magistrate to visit Police Stations, prohibition of media parade of suspects, compensation to victims of crime, protective measures for victims and witnesses as well as the Establishment of a Crime
