 Fuel scarcity bites harder in Abuja, Ondo, Osun, others • Independent marketers sell PMS between N625 and N799 per litre There is no succour yet for motorists and other petrol end users despite the Thursday statement by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) that it had resolved the logistic problems that sparked the supply crisis. Reports from across the country yesterday showed that many filling stations had no fuel to sell. Some sold over and above the threshold of N650 per litre while motorists and other buyers besieged the few ones that sold within the range of N600 per litre. While many petrol stations in Lagos sold fuel at the normal price and queues were not noticeable, it was a different story in the industrial town of Ota, Ogun State where some filling stations hiked their pump price to N799 per litre.            The Kogi State House of Assembly was on Tuesday invaded by hoodlums, who disrupted its plenary sitting and beat up members. LIGHT UP KWARA: FIRM RELEASES ROLL-OUT PLAN FOR PHASE 2.

               Rubitec Power Limited, one of the two firms executing Light-Up Kwara (LUK), the solar-powered streetlight project of the Kwara State government, has released a comprehensive installation roll-out plan for the second phase of the project. The roll-out plan, which was made available by the State Ministry of Energy, indicated that civil works component and the streetlight installation will be covered in three phases over a  period of six months. For section 1, a total of 256 poles will be deployed, covering 8.70km of roads across three routes within the Metropolis, including Kulende Estate Junction – FCMB Murtala road, Maraba – Oja-Oba and General Roundabout – Oja-Oba. While for section 2, 392 poles will be erected across six routes, covering 9.952km. The routes to be covered are Michael Imodu – Offa Garage, Offa Garage – Unity roundabout, Unity roundabout – FCMB Murtala, Geri Alimi – CAILS and other roundabouts within the Metropolis. NDLEA DESTROYS 246 TONNES OF CANNABIS SATIVA IN EKITI STATE.

                The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ekiti State Command ‎on Tuesday said it had destroyed 246 tonnes of cannabis sativa (weeds) in the state. The Commander of the agency, Alhaji Bage Bamaiyi, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ado-Ekiti. According to scientists, Cannabis sativa, otherwise known as Indian hemp, is a drug obtained from the dried leaves and flowers of the hemp plant which is smoked or chewed for its psychoactive properties. It produces euphoria and relaxation whose repeated use may lead to psychological dependence. He said the command took necessary steps to uncover ‎17 cannabis sativa farms at Ode-Ekiti, in Gbonyin Local Government Area of state but that the peddlers were not found in their hide-outs. “ When I received information about the 17 farms, I sent my officers to place surveillance on the farms and when I got to the farms, I observed that hectares of lands were used for cultivating c

                  Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday said that work on the proposed expansion and reconstruction of the Oshodi-International Airport Road would commence next month. The Governor, who spoke at the Third Quarter Town Hall Meeting, the 8th in the series, held at the Badore Ferry Terminal, Lagos also disclosed that plans are already underway to commence the construction of 181 local government roads next month. On the Oshodi-International Airport Road, Governor Ambode said the construction, which has already been awarded, would see the transformation of the road from four lanes to 10 lanes from Oshodi to the International Airport with interchange and flyover that would drop commuters to the Local Airport. It would be recalled that in May 2017, Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo approved that the road be handed over to the Lagos State Government for total reconstruction.                  Contrary to reports that it was the agitations by certain groups that prompted Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, to stop the payment of his pension, the Special Adviser on Media & Publicity to the Senate President, Mr. Yusuph Olaniyonu, has clarified that on August 20th, 2015, Saraki wrote to the Kwara State Government to stop the payment of his pensions. “As a responsive and responsible government official,  the Senate President has always toed the moral and legal high-ground in all his actions. This is why since he left office as Kwara State Governor in 2011 — even before his directive that his pension payment be stopped on the 20th of August, 2015 — this pension was always used as a scholarship and education endowment fund from which first-class graduates and law school students have benefitted.
