  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Justice Bayo Taiwo of the Oyo High Court sitting in Ibadan has sentenced an internet fraudster, Adebayo Saheed Modebola, to six months community service after finding him guilty of impersonation in a criminal charge filed against him by the Ibadan Zonal Command of the EFCC. The 21-year-old who claims to be an automobile mechanic met his waterloo on Tuesday, November 2, 2020 as the judge held that the Commission sustained the allegation of impersonating one Stephanie Cameron Caron to defraud people through the use of the internet.

Troops of Joint Security Team have raided a suspected Indigeneous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) hideout located in Mgbowo, Awgu Local Government Area on 1 November 2021. During the night operation, two ring leaders of IPOB/ ESN were arrested. The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation with a security agency. It should be noted that, contrary to IPOB/ESN propaganda video, there was no incident of indiscriminate firing or unprovoked burning of houses during the raid. The joint operation in Agwu was conducted in the night and there was no destruction of any private property involved.  The trending videos in circulation claiming to represent the aftermath of the night operation is not portraying the Agwu operation. It is meant to whip up sentiment and incite the public against the Army. Meanwhile, Investigation into the video is ongoing to ascertain when and where it was shot and those involved. Unknown gunmen have attacked the University of Abuja, UNIABUJA staff quarters, abducted unspecified number of members of staff and some of their family members. According to a source who spoke with our correspondent from the University campus, the number of abducted persons have not been ascertained as at press time on Tuesday. … To Pay Medical Bills of Rescued Victims As rescue operations continue at the location of yesterday's collapsed building at Gerrard Road, Ikoyi, the Lagos State Government has restated its determination to ensure that as many people as possible are rescued alive from the rubble. Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, disclosed this today while speaking with journalists and relatives of the victims during the monitoring of the ongoing search and rescue operations by agencies of government. The Deputy Governor, who was accompanied to the site by top government officials, said the focus of government, for now, is to ensure that the ongoing rescue operations yield positive results such that those still trapped in the rubble are brought out alive. Dr. Hamzat revealed that “Nine people have been rescued alive and taken to the hospital while 10 dead bodies have been recovered. … Set to Introduce Policy to Regulate Foreign-Based Transient Medical Doctors The Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA) has shut Vedic Lifecare Hospital for engaging unlicensed expatriates. The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Abiola Idowu, who made the disclosure in her office in Alausa, Ikeja, explained that the hospital located at Plot 6, Olabanji Olajide Street, Lekki, was sealed for engaging expatriate staff who have not been certified to practice locally. “The facility was shut down for engaging three foreign doctors and a nurse with unverified certificates and without licenses from any professional body”, she explained. She, however, stated that the closure of the hospital does not affect the in-patients already admitted, stressing that the Agency is aware that some facilities are engaging Foreign-Based Transient Medical Doctors (FBTMD) who come into the State, stay for a period of time to provide medical care to patients and perform medical procedu

In continuation of the first phase of the Lagos Red Line Rail Mass Transit project (Oyingbo-Agbado), the Lagos State Government will divert traffic at Kayode Ogunmokun Road in Mushin for a period of six weeks commencing from 7th November until 31st December, 2021. A statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, noted that the diversion is a part of the traffic management plan for the construction of the Mushin Overpass, adding that the middle lanes will be cordoned off for construction work to ensure the safety of Lagosians. Oladeinde further explained that motorists will be diverted to the lanes on both sides of the road to minimise inconvenience, assuring that signs will be mounted and Traffic Management Personnel deployed to guide movement during the course of the construction works. Gbajabiamila said it was unfortunate that the building collapse happened at a time the Lagos State Government was doing everything possible to make the lives of Lagosians safer. Thursday, 4th and Friday, 5th November 2021 have been declared work - free days in Anambra State. Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano announced this today during the 2021 Public Service Day Celebration. The event was held at Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka. According to the Governor, the holiday is to enable the state workforce to prepare for Saturday's election, asking them to moblize their neighbours because the election must hold. He thanked the state workforce  having worked well with him, stressing that he has fulfilled his promises to them and added more, expressing his desire of having Professor Soludo succeed him, stressing that his support for him is as a result of his pedigree and ability to develop and manage Anambra resources, declaring that he will perform better if elected.
