 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

       FEDERAL MINISTRY OF POWER, WORKS AND HOUSING PRESS RELEASE In pursuance of the Federal Government’s commitment to developing the nation’s road network in the six geopolitical zones, the Federal Executive Council (FEC), has approved road contracts worth N35.944 Billion in six states of the Federation, bringing to a total of 16 roads the Council has approved in recent times. Barely three weeks ago, the Council approved the award of N169.74 Billion contracts for the construction and rehabilitation of 10 roads across the country with the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola SAN explaining that the projects would enhance Federal Government’s objective of restoring the nation’s road network as part of the implementation of the Federal Government’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan.       Troops of 121 and 192 Battalions of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in collaboration with Civilian JTF and local vigilantes, had on the 10th of May 2019 continued with clearance operations to end Boko Haram terrorism. Consequently, the troops effectively cleared Surdewalla, Ranwa, Baladayo, Sabon Gari and Shetimeri villages of Borno State in a simultaneous operation code named "Operation HARD STRI KE".  At Ranwa 11, contact was made with the terrorists, three of them were neutralized, while many were obviously wounded and others escaped. Simultaneously, troops of 192 Battalion advanced along Sabon Gari and Shetimeri villages where they cleared a scout of Boko Haram terrorists.
