  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. ABEOKUTA FLOOD: PRESIDENTIAL COMMITTEE VISITS OGUN TODAY.[PHOTOS}.

      The Presidential Committee on Flood Assessment, has visited Ogun State, to access the extent of damage of the recent flash flood in the state. Chairman of the Presidential Committee, Prof. Emmanuel Adanu, speaking to news men, after visiting Governor Ibikunle Amosun in his office in Abeokuta today, said the committee would access the technical profile of the rivers and make recommendations to the Federal Government, in accord ance with its mandate. Adanu, who said his team visited Odo-Eran, Oke-Lantoro, Ogun River and other affected areas, assured that necessary action will be taken as soon as the committee submits it's reports. The state Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Bolaji Oyeleye, also speaking, said necessary data has been collected for analysis and recommendations. He added that the team also offered advise on how to convert such volume of flood into positive use, assuring that measures will be taken to prevent future occurrence. @ Abeokuta.More photos below.

EFCC FREEZES 3 BANK ACCOUNT BELONGING TO THE BENUE STATE GOVT.

         Three bank accounts belonging to the Benue state government, have been frozen by the anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). This was disclosed by the chief press secretary   to Governor Samuel Ortom  Terver Akase on Wednesday. The commission had  linked the governor to an alleged fraud  to the tune of N22 billion but Ortom denied the allegation. The governor expressed surprise that none of his colleagues were being investigated for the same reason.More details later.

     The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has emphasised the need for effective coordination among all first responders during emergency situations, saying that the task of saving lives and property of Lagosians requires the cooperation of all including members of the public.
