 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. Thank you, Your Majesty, for 70 years of unwavering and dedicated service 🙏 The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, along with other members of The @RoyalFamily, attended a Service of Thanksgiving at @StPaulsLondon in The Queen’s #PlatinumJubilee year. Over 400 people were invited to attend in recognition of their contribution to public life at both a community and national level. Drawn from all four nations of the United Kingdom, this included NHS and key workers, teaching staff and representatives from the Armed Forces, charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups. APC Primaries: Goodluck Jonathan Wasn't Screened - Oyegun  The All Progressives Congress’ presidential screening committee has disqualified 10 aspirants from its primaries scheduled for next week. Chairman of the Committee, John Oyegun, revealed this on Friday. According to Mr Oyegun, only 13 out of the 23 aspirants screened were cleared by the committee. However when asked about the identity of the disqualified aspirants, Mr Oyegun declined to disclose the names. Oyegun added that contrary to rumours making the rounds, it didn’t screen former president Goodluck Jonathan. The committee held the screening exercise between Monday and Tuesday this week. Cleared aspirants are expected to contest the presidential primary at a scheduled special convention in Abuja between June 6 and 8.

NEMESIS AS IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICE PLANTED BY IPOB BLOWS UP MEMBERS An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN) has exploded, causing severe injuries to two members of the outlawed group. The incident occured along Eke Ututu - Orsu road in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo state on 1 June 2022. The dissidents, inadvertently stepped on the IED which they had earlier planted along several routes in Orlu, Orsu Local Government Area, while they were attempting to evade troops' onslaught against terrorists in the area. The outlawed group have severally planted IEDs along troops' patrol routes in failed effort to bring harm to the troops.   We urge all peace loving people of the South East to please inform troops of possible areas where these explosives have been buried for proper evacuation and disposal. EFCC Gets Direct Access to 114m INTERPOL Criminal Records The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, in Lyon, France, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Interpol National Central Bureau for Nigeria. The agreement on Direct Access to and Use of Interpol Information Systems, grants the EFCC unrestricted access to nine key global databases containing 114 million records of 195 countries, hosted by the Interpol on its i24/7 secure global records and communication system. EFCC Arrests 92 Internet Fraud Suspects in Port Harcourt Operatives of the Port Harcourt Zonal Command of the EFCC have arrested 92 suspected internet fraudsters (aka Yahoo Boys) in a sting operation in the early hours of Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at various locations in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The Ninety Two (92) suspects were arrested for alleged internet fraud activities at locations including Choba and Ada George axis of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, following an intelligence report. Analyses of the devices recovered from the suspects established that 64 of the suspects have incriminating items in their phones and emails. EFCC Arrests Thirty-Nine Suspected Cyber-Fraudsters in Ibadan Operatives of the Ibadan Zonal Command of the EFCC on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, arrested thirty-nine (39) suspected internet fraudsters in a sting operation in Ibadan, Oyo State. The suspects who claimed to be undergraduates of different tertiary institutions in Ibadan were arrested at Apete area of the Oyo State capital, following useful intelligence on their cyber-fraudulent activities. However, following analyses carried out on their devices, incriminating documents, and messages of their fraudulent bank transactions were recovered from thirty-four (34) of the suspects. Bawa Visits Kukah Center, Seeks Partnership in Fight against Corruption The Executive Chairman of the EFCC on Thursday, June 2, 2022, visited the Kukah Center for Faith and leadership for dialogue on how the Commission can partner with the Center in preventing corruption and fraud in Nigeria. The Chairman of the Center, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah who received the EFCC boss noted that interfaith dialogue is at the core of the Center’s work and involves actively promoting conversations among Nigeria’s faith communities, as well as between leaders in faith and public policy. He introduced Bawa to staff of the Center and conducted him round its facilities. Court Jails Seven Yahoo Boys in Enugu The Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, June 2, 2022, secured the conviction of seven internet fraudsters before Justice I.M Buba of the Federal High Court sitting in Enugu on separate charges bordering on impersonation and obtaining money under false pretences from unsuspecting foreign nationals. The convicts are: Nwafor Clinton Chetachi, Utogbo Joseph,Omilo Collins Chimere, Enegide Ifeanyi Kizito, Chukwuajama Collins Arinze, Victor Udekwe and Chukwudi Emmanuel.

EFCC Cautions Nigerians Against Vote Buying The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has called on Nigerians to refrain from every act of vote buying and vote selling in the nation’s electoral processes. This call was made in Abuja on Friday, May 3, 2022, by the Secretary to the Commission, Dr. George Ekpungu, while receiving a delegation of the Civil Society Partners on Electoral Reform, CISPER, who paid a courtesy visit to the EFCC. The Secretary noted that every leadership’s recruitment process in the country is very vital, and called on Nigerians to avoid selling their votes and their future to the highest bidder in the course of elections. He commended CISPER for coming forward to partner with the EFCC in curbing the menace of vote buying and selling and called on other well-meaning Nigerians to come and partner with the Commission in fighting all sorts of economic and financial crimes in the country.
