 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. ASUU STRIKE: KADUNA STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS BEGIN EXAMINATIONS.(PHOTO).

Despite the ongoing strike action by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), students of Kaduna State University (KASU), yesterday, commenced examinations for the 2021/2022 second semester. Governor Nasir El-Rufai had during a live media chat on local radio stations in Kaduna recently threatened to sack lecturers of the Kaduna State University (KASU) and replace them if they don’t resume.  However, our correspondent who visited the KASU main campus in Kaduna saw students sitting in lecture halls writing the examinations and supervised by officials. A student who identified himself as Sani Abdullahi, said:” This is our second semester examinations, we suppose to start last week but was shifted to start today Monday because of the three days public holiday declared by the state government to enable residents obtain their voters cards. Train Attack: Gunmen Release Five Additional Hostages The gunmen who attacked a Kaduna-bound train in March and abducted several passengers released five more hostages on Tuesday. The release of the hostages comes after the terrorists released four of the victims last week Monday. A newspaper publisher, Tukur Mamu, who had previously negotiated the release of some of the captives, confirmed the release of the five hostages to PREMIUM TIMES. Mr Mamu identified the released hostages as Mustapha Imam, a professor from Usman Danfodio University Sokoto, Akibu Lawal; Abubakar Rufai; Mukthar Shu’aibu; and Sidi Sharif. Mr Mamu said the released hostages visited his office on Tuesday afternoon to thank him for his efforts in securing their release. HIT AND RUN TRAILER DRIVER CRUSHES CYCLIST TO DEATH BEYOND RECOGNITION AT IHIALA,ANAMBRA STATE.(PHOTO).

The Federal Road Safety Corps has reported that a hit and run trailer driver on Sunday crushed a motorcyclist to death beyond recognition at Ihiala, Ihiala local government area of Anambra state. Sector commander of the corps in the state CC Adeoye Irelewuyi who gave the report in a statement released to journalists Sunday night, said it was an unfortunate incident but warned motorists to consider other road users while using the roads to guard against avoidable crashes as well as save lives and entrench sanity on the highways. The statement says, “Unidentified driver of a trailer with no registration number and a Sayang 100 Motorcycle with no registration number were involved in a fatal road traffic crash 31th July, 2022 at about 16:45hrs.” Probable cause of the crash was loss of control as a result of excessive speed.
