OSUN: ADELEKE, ASSEMBLY LOSE AS COURT AFFIRMS JUSTICE OJI AS CHIEF JUDGE. (PHOTO).

 Osun: Adeleke, Assembly lose as court affirms Justice Ojo as Chief Judge The National Industrial Court sitting in Ibadan has affirmed Justice Adepele Ojo as the Chief Judge of Osun State. The decision was contained in a judgment delivered by Justice Peters in a suit numbered NICN/IB/62/2023, on Wednesday in Ibadan. The court granted all the reliefs sought by the Osun Chief Judge against the Osun State Government and Osun State House of Assembly, including an order of perpetual injunction restraining both the executive and legislative arms of government from removing her as the number one judicial officer in the state. Matters came to a head between the Osun State Government and Justice Ojo in 2023 when the Osun Assembly passed a motion suspending her as Chief Judge of the state. An acting Chief Judge, Justice Olayinka Afolabi was appointed in her place but he refused to turn up the next day for swearing in. Boko Haram attacks military base in Kaduna, kill 11 soldiers, injure 19 Boko Haram terrorists have attacked a military base in Polewire area of Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, killing 11 soldiers and injuring 19 others. Three members of a local vigilante group also lost their lives, while two others suffered injuries during the attack. DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that during the 3 and half-hour battle, which started at 4:30pm and ended 8pm, three Armoured Personnel Carriers, APC were burnt to ashes after dislodging troops from the location. Security sources said the location is the major movement route of the terrorists crossing from Niger to Zamfara. In a situation report sighted by our reporter, the military equipment lost or destroyed include 1 Legion MRAP; 1 Cobra APC; 1 Styer APC; DSHK machine gun; 2 HK 21 guns; 1 GPMG; 14 AK47 rifles; 3 pump action guns; 10 motorcycles, among others. Ramadan: Zulum gifts food-bags, cloth, N5.7m to 285 Govt House cleaners  Borno Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum on Monday, distributed food items, cloth and combined cash of five million, seven hundred thousand to 285 cleaners, messengers and others at the lowest rank, working at the Government House in Maiduguri.  Each of them received a bag of rice, sugar, cooking oil, textile and N20,000 as support for the ramadan.  The Governor thanked the workers for their services, describing them as being critical to the operations of the Government House.  He promised to sustain welfare support to them as he has been doing, in addition to improving their conditions of seservice. POS OPERATOR COMMITS SUICIDE OVER N520,000 LOAN IN ABUJA 35-year-old, Ibrahim Haruna, has committed suicide over N520,000 he borrowed from friends to scale up his Point of Sale (POS) business. The incident was said to have occurred at his residence in Byazhin area of Kubwa in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT. According to Daily Trust, the deceased’s younger brother, Isah, said that things were not going well for his brother and that he was certain the debt was responsible for his brother drinking the otapiapia. Isah said, “My brother once jokingly told me that he would kill himself because of the pressure he was getting from people to return their money, but I always told him everything would be okay.” One of the residents, Yinka Ogunleye, who expressed shock at the news, said, “He called many friends earlier on that day informing them that he was embarking on a very far journey? “He even visited various joints in the area before heading home to take the otapiap

NGO Runs Free Medical Tests For Commercial Sex Workers In Onitsha A Non-Governmental Organization, Save Young Girls Motherhood Foundation, has carried out free medical tests for commercial sex workers in Onitsha. The NGO has been championing a novel campaign since September last year to rescue young girls who are into commercial sex business. The girls were tested mainly for hepatitis B and C, the two most deadly variants of the killer disease, as well as HIV and AIDS There were also tests for malaria and typhoid fever, and Sexually Transmitted Infections, STIs. Patrons who showed willingness were equally tested. But, getting the girls to run the test was another uphill task, different from calling their attention in the first place.
