The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Mr Ugwu who  began his study in Peace and Conflict Resolution with the university while in  the Correctional Centre,was awarded his certificate today by the officials of NOUN four years after he regained freedom. Kuje prison attack: 64 Boko Haram suspects have escaped- Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi The Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi, has said that no fewer than 64 inmates undergoing trial for terrorism were among those that escaped from the Kuje Medium Prison after the attack on Tuesday night, July 5. Addressing journalists after taking an assessment tour of the facility, the minister said “The attack started around 10:30pm. They came in their numbers gained entrance into the prison and released some of the inmates and which we are now following to see the kind of inmates that they have released. “Very soon, we will give you the correct figure of the inmates that were taken. Aside that, we are trying to see what we can do to ensure that all escapees are returned back. The prison is accommodating about 994 inmates and over 600 escaped. Secretary General of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, Muhammad Sanusi Barkindo, is dead. He died about 11pm on Tuesday. His death was announced in the early hours of Wednesday by NNPC GMD, Mele Kyari. Kyari tweeted, “We lost our esteemed Dr Muhammad Sanusi Barkindo. He died at about 11pm yesterday 5th July 2022. Certainly a great loss to his immediate family, the NNPC, our country Nigeria, the OPEC and the global energy community. Burial arrangements will be announced shortly.” Barkindo was on Tuesday described by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) as a worthy ambassador of the country, when he received him at the State House. Barkindo’s tenure as OPEC Secretary General comes to an end on July 31.
