  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. WAEC set to introduce CBT for WASSCE  The West African Examinations Council says plans to introduce the Computer Based Test mode in the administration of its examinations are at an advanced stage. The Head of National Office, Mr Patrick Areghan, gave the hint in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Lagos. Wrestling Star Hulk Hogan, 69, Marries For Third Time  Wrestling icon, Terry Bollea, popularly known as Hulk Hogan, 69, has married for the third time. He got married to Sky Daily after a ceremony in Florida on Friday night.  It was reported to be a low-key wedding as "neither of them wanted over the top, just a small affair with their nearest and dearest to declare their deep love and commitment to each other". The former World Championship Wrestling star got engaged to Daily, a yoga instructor, in July 2023 after they began dating in early 2022.  Hogan had been officially married twice, to Linda Hogan and Jennifer McDaniel whom he recently divorced in 2021. Daily, also a two-time divorcee, has a nine-year-old girl, and boys aged 14 and 16, while Hogan has two children, Brooke, 35, and Nick, 32.

Mohbad's Death Opened Our Eyes To Areas We Didn't Focus On, Says Actor Kunle Afolayan Nigerian actor and film producer, Kunle Afolayan, has opined that the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, open the eyes of many to areas that were not focused on. Afolayan, while mourning the deceased in a post on his Instagram account, said that every person has a certain purpose to fulfill before they leave the world. 20 Suspected Kidnappers In Police Net In Taraba  Taraba State Police Command has arrested and paraded twenty suspected kidnappers. The suspects were paraded before newsmen at the premises of the Command's Headquarters in Jalingo on Friday. DOZENS ESCAPE DEATH AS THREE-STOREY BUILDING COLLAPSES IN LAGOS. (PHOTO).

 Dozens escape death as three-storey building collapses in Lagos The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed that there was no casualty after a three-storey building collapsed at Surulere, Lagos. NEMA territorial coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the incident to journalists in Lagos on Saturday. The building came down at about 10pm on Friday night at No. 14 Ikpoh Street, Surulere. An occupant of the building, Gervase Anyanwu, a businessman, said that all the other occupants were able to run out of the building before it came down completely. Anyanwu said that before the building came down, there was a large sound at one of its wings. “Immediately we heard the sound, all the occupants of the building gathered at the mustard point, before evacuating for safety,” Anyanwu told NAN. “No casualty was recorded,” Anyanwu added. Popular Nigerian Actor Confirmed Dead Nollywood actor-producer and businessman, Charles Granville, has passed away. He died on Thursday, September 21 after a protracted illness. Charles Granville was officially named IPGC’s Special Envoy to the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS in January 2022. Some of the movies he has been involved in were ‘Last Flight To Abuja’, ‘Impossible Relationships’, ‘Dowry Man’ and a soon-to-be-released movie ‘Locked’. Granville equally confirmed a new film project, titled, ‘I’m in Charge’ with Richard Mofe Damijo, Funke Akindele-Bello and director, Robert Peters amongst other Nollywood stars, scheduled for release in the Fourth Quarter of 2022 by FilmOne Entertainment. UNOCT, ECOWAS Sign Agreement To Combat Terrorism.  The United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism UNOCT and the Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen partnership in preventing and countering terrorism and violent extremism.  A statement by the ECOWAS commission indicates that the agreement establishes a framework for cooperation between both entities over the next five years on a range of security and counter-terrorism initiatives, including preventative efforts to counter terrorist travel, financing, access to weapons and misuse of information and communications technologies; border security and management; prosecution, rehabilitation and reintegration (PRR), and the delivery of counter-terrorism training programmes in Africa.  It says the agreement also makes provisions for United Nations Office on Counter Terrorism support to ECOWAS and its Member States in the implementation of the ECOWAS 2020-2024 Action Plan on Er

 Suspect arrested for injecting Mohbad not registered nurse – Lagos NANNM The Lagos State National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives has revealed that the suspect arrested for injecting the late singer, Mohbad is not a registered nurse. Recall that Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba had in one of his viral interviews stated that his son Mohbad died after receiving an injection from an auxiliary nurse on September 12. Owners of 149 impounded vehicles, 100 tricycles, motorcycles in FCT ‘ll be punished – FCTA The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) says owners of 149 impounded vehicles, 100 tricycles and motorcycles in the FCT will appear before a mobile court for various traffic offences. Dr Abdulateef Bello, the Director, FCTA Directorate of Road Traffic Services, also known as Vehicles Inspection Officers (VIO), stated this in Abuja on Friday, after inspecting the impounded vehicles. Bello, who visited some of the VIO Commands where the impounded vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles were kept, said that the owners would pay dearly for their sins.

SANWO-OLU APPROVES AGORO AS HEAD OF SERVICE Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Shuaheeb Olabode Agoro as the 22nd Head of Service with effect from September 30, 2023. A statement signed by the outgoing Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, said Agoro joined the Lagos State Public Service on 1st July 2003 and became a Permanent Secretary on August 3, 2015. Until his present appointment, Mr. Agoro was the Permanent Secretary, Lands Bureau. LAGOS FIRE SERVICE COMBATING INDUSTRIAL FIRE AT ILUPEJU The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is currently fighting an industrial fire at Mega Plastic, Ilupeju bypass, Mushin, Lagos. The emergency alert was received at 07:26 hours on Saturday. The Firefighters at Ilupeju, Bolade and Alausa Fire Stations are already at the scene. The storage and factory sections of the petrochemical company were affected as the fire was being curtailed. No injuries or deaths have been recorded so far. More updates to follow soon.  Akon's women celebrate him as he divides his time to spoil them days apart.  Akon is making sure that his women get his love and attention.  The American-Senegalese singer, who has made it clear that he is polygamous, spent time with two of his women back to back.  He was with Ammirah in Senegal this week for her birthday.  Ammirah, who is also an artist, shared photos of them together and praised him with sweet words. She also called him "Hubby". Before visiting Ammirah in Senegal, he spent time with his other woman, Rozina, in Dubai. The couple went on a double date with Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia.  Rozina also shared photos and a video from their time together and professed her love for Akon.  Though Akon is legally married to Tomeka Thiam, who is his publicly recognised wife, he has other women who are also referred to as his wives.
