 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. Justice Sikiru Oyinloye of the Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin on Friday, July 9, 2021 sentenced a final year student of Ekiti State University, EKSU, Ado Ekiti, Adeyemi Kehinde and a 21-year-old student of the Kwara State University, KWASU, Molete, Oladosu Olakunmi Olalekan, to various prison jail terms, having found them guilty of offences bordering on cybercrime The two convicts were arraigned on separate charges today by the Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.  EFCC Arraigns Three Businessmen for Fraud in Maiduguri The Maiduguri Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, July 8, 2021 arraigned three businessmen Lawan Karta, Aisami Sherif and Babagana Bulama, before Justice Umaru Fadawu of the Borno State High Court, Maiduguri for the offences bordering on criminal conspiracy, misappropriation, and obtaining money under false pretence.  Karta and Sherif were jointly arraigned on a two-count  charge for allegedly  selling a purported plot of land to one Mohammed Umar Bolori in the sum of N10, 000, 000.00 (Ten Million Naira). Investigation revealed that the complainant made a deposit of N5, 000, 000.00 (Five Million Naira) to one of the defendants’ account during his visit to   the land. COAS COMMISERATES WITH TROOPS INVOLVED IN TRAFFIC ACCIDENT IN NORTH EAST.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya has commiserated with troops who were involved in a road traffic accident on Thursday 8 July 2021, at Garin Kuturu, along Maiduguri- Damaturu road, while responding to a  distress call.  Sadly, one of the Gun trucks conveying the troops skidded off the road and rammed into a road shoulder, causing the vehicle to somersault. Nine personnel who sustained varying degrees of injury in the accident have been evacuated and are currently receiving medical attention in a military medical facility.  No fatality was recorded in the accident.  Gen Yahaya lauded the troops for their swift response and urged them to be more circumspect during emergency operational responses.                        9th July 2021 The coalition of Nasarawa State Health Professional Associations (CNSHPA) has suspended its one-month-old strike. Spokesperson of CNSHPA, Mr Kyari Caleb, made this known while briefing newsmen on Friday in Lafia. Caleb, who is also the state Chairman of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN), explained that the suspension of the strike followed interventions by major stakeholders in the state. He added that the agreement to suspend the strike was reached on Friday (today) at the congress of the coalition, following appeals by the Traditional Council of Chiefs in Nasarawa state, led by its Chairman and Emir of Lafia, Sidi Bage. Caleb, therefore, directed members to resume work immediately to allow well-meaning individuals to continue to meditate on grey areas.
