  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. PRESIDENT BUHARI APPROVES SUSPENSION OF THE COORDINATOR OF AMNESTY PROGRAMME.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

       Following numerous allegations and petitions surrounding the Presidential Amnesty Programme, the National Security Adviser (NSA) set up a Caretaker Committee to look into the activities of the programme, on the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari. Part of the Committee’s task is to ensure that allocated resources are properly utilized in consonance with government’s objective of alleviating probl ems in the Niger Delta region and stamping out corruption in the Amnesty Programme. Consequently, the NSA recommend to Mr President that the Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme, Professor Charles Quaker Dokubo be suspended, a recommendation that has been approved and which takes immediate effect. The President has also directed that the Caretaker Committee set up to review the program should oversee the running of the programme henceforth, with a view to ensuring that government objectives are achieved.       The patient, an Italian citizen who works in Nigeria and just returned from Milan, Italy on the 25th of February 2020, was confirmed to have the COVID-19 virus by the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, on Friday. According to the Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, who confirmed the latest development to journalists, the company where the Italian had visited in Ewekoro has been shut down, whi le two isolation centres have been identified. “The information we have is that the particular company in question has practically shut down and they have set up two isolation centres within the company. They have identified all those that have been in contact with this index, totalling about 28 so far and they have been quarantined. “They are looking at interviewing these 28 people to know who they have been in contact with so that they can ensure these other people are quarantined,” he stated. CORONAVIRUS: SANWO-OLU URGES RESIDENTS NOT TO PANIC,SAYS PATIENT 'IN STABLE CONDITION'.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      Lagos State Government has raised its level of response to Coronavirus (COVID-19) incident, following a reported case of a patient diagnosed with the infectious viral disease in the State in the early hours of Friday. This is coming, just as the Chief Incident Commander and the State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, allayed fears of residents on spread of the virus. The Governor also offered more information on how the patient was identified and efforts currently being made to prevent the spread of the virus. The patient, Sanwo-Olu said, is an Ogun State-based expatriate who flew into Lagos from Milan in Italy via Istanbul, Turkey last Monday evening. The Governor said the patient, whose name was not disclosed, remained in stable condition at the bio-security facility in Yaba, Lagos Mainland, where he is being isolated. The suspects namely: Daniel Archiobong, David Ikechukwu, Alex James, Williams Vincent, Sanni Lucas, Ichado Victor O, Ubah Henry, Anifowoshe Femi and Akinseye Dipo, were rounded off in the early hours of today. . .       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has sought permanent forfeiture of two houses in Ilorin, Kwara State belonging to a former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, to the Federal Government before Justice Rilwan Aikawa of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos. . . The EFCC had, on December 2, 2019, obtained an order temporarily forfeiting the houses, Plots No. 10 and No. 11 Abdulkadir Road, GRA, Ilorin, Kwara State, to the Federal Government.

    The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, on Friday, February 28, 2020 arraigned one Ngozi Philomena Okoye and her company, Menoil Oil and Gas Limited before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining goods by false pretence and stealing to the tune of N349, 000, 000. 00 (Three Hundred and Forty Nine Million Naira) belonging  to one Frank Karkitie, Director of Enegas Power Limited. . . The defendant allegedly purchased two million litres of Automative Gas Oil, AGO on credit from the victim (Frank Karkitie) using her company and promised to pay for the products after being sold. . .
