       In its bid to promote consumer rights, against hazardous and sub-standard products through regular public enlightenment, the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has warned retailers who sell unwholesome or expired goods to unsuspecting consumers to desist from such or face the wrath of the law. The General Manager of LASCOPA, Mrs. Kemi Olugbode gave the warning recently while speaking on a Radio Lagos  programme “Ojutaye”, adding that the mandate of the Agency is ensuring that consumers derive satisfaction from goods or services.         Lagos State Water Regulatory Commission is to commence issuance of licenses and permits for water abstraction in the state by first quarter of 2020. Addressing stakeholders in the water sector, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mrs. Funke Femi Adepoju revealed that the exercise which is to be launched by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is to regulate the process of water abstraction in the State. “What is paramount to government is how abstraction affects us as a people not just today but the future with emphases on pollution, contamination of water bodies, saline filtration into the system, over-abstraction and unregulated abstraction”, she stated.       In order to improve waste disposal and create a clean and healthy environment,the Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has established the Ogun state Waste Management Authority,OGWAMA. The Governor has also appointed designated Mr Ola Oresanya as Special Adviser to oversee waste evacuation and management in the State. The Adviser who has since resumed duty told Waste Managers how the new Agency would work at a meeting in Abeokuta Wednesday. He said henceforth waste Managers in the state must have at least two compatibles, evidence of three years tax payment to the Ogun state government and valid registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission. Mr Oresanya also disclosed that the agency which would become fully operational in January and would partner with contractors and investors in the sector for optimal performance. Corporal Netra Rana was seriously injured when his vehicle hit an IED south of Kandahar in January 2008. Since recovering from his injuries, Corporal Netra Rana has competed in sitting volleyball competitions and is a GB Paralympian and Invictus Games medal winner. He was awarded an MBE during today’s Investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace. ⛳  Golfer Georgia Hall won the 2018 Women’s British Open.       The EFCC, Sokoto Zonal Office, has arrested one Amina Kabo (a.k.a Firdausi Kabo) a wonder Bank Manager and promoter of Olive Micro Finance Bank, located at No. 26 Dubabe Plaza. She was arrested for alleged offences of Conspiracy, Forgery and Obtaining Money by False Pretence to the tune of N897, 500 (Eight Hundred and Ninety Seven Thousand, five hundred Naira). The Zonal Head, Abdullahi Lawal, while parading the suspect at a press briefing in Sokoto on Friday, December 6, 2019, described the arrest as “a big success”.
