No petrol subsidy payments to marketers since Jan 2016 — NNPCL 5th Jul 2023  The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has said that there have not been payments for subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) otherwise called petrol or fuel to marketers since January 2016. It stated that It will reconcile subsidy deductions with the federation. These were contained in the ‘Petrol Subsidy Fact Sheet’ posted on NNPCL’s official Twitter handle and seen by New Telegraph on Wednesday. Director of Press, Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF), Bawa Mokwa, made this known on Wednesday. He said the Office Is working round the clock to ensure that the problem is resolved. Mokwa said the delay was caused by technical challenges with the Government Integrated Financial Management System (GIFMIS), one of the salary platforms. He said: “As we speak, the directors and the consultant in charge of the platforms are in a crucial meeting, working round the clock to resolve the problem. “Anytime from now, the salaries will start to drop.” Meanwhile, some civil servants in Abuja have been lamenting delay in the payment of June salaries. The report said Wike imposed campaign rules that were more restrictive than INEC regulations. The EU report on the general elections, which the presidency has already rejected, said EU election observers recorded denials of access to opposition candidates to state-owned stadiums and school premises, selectively imposed excessive venue fees, and closed party offices, to prevent the opposition from campaigning. The report said the same constrained campaign environment was also observed in Lagos, Katsina, Kaduna, Delta, Edo, Ogun, and Kogi states. The Ekiti State government has announced a ban on the planned three-day kissing marathon to set the Guinness World Record in the state. A group identified as Sugartee released an advert saying that on July 7 they will be embarking on the longest world kissing marathon in a popular amusement park in the state capital. Reacting to the development, the state Ministry of Arts and Culture in a statement released today July 5, banned the scheduled competition of the marathon and warned all Hoteliers in the state not to allow their premises be used for such exercise. The state government warned that heavy sanctions will be placed on any hotel found to permit such an exercise in their facility. HEALTH INSURANCE: OGSG FOCUSES ON VULNERABLE, OTHERS            In a bid to achieve Universal Health Coverage by 2030, the Ogun State Government says more effort will be intensified on its Health Insurance Scheme for the vulnerable, informal and formal sectors.             The Executive Secretary, Ogun State Health Insurance Agency (OGSHIA), Dr. Afolabi Dosumu made this known in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, during an engagement with the management and staffers of the Ministry of Information and Strategy.            Dr. Dosumu said the State and Federal Governments had proactively launched and captured the informal sector and vulnerable under the Basic Healthcare Provisions Fund (BHCPF), saying the formal sector insurance scheme for public servants and the private sector would come up soon.             He disclosed that the government had engaged the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Ogun State Chapter, and other affiliate unions to ensure that their members key into the scheme.

Kano Businessman Arraigned for N4.1m Maize Fraud The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today July 5, 2023, arraigned one Kabiru Mohammed Shanono before Justice Aisha Mahmud of the Kano State High Court on a one count charge of criminal misappropriation. The defendant allegedly collected two trucks of Maize worth N18, 537.390 (Eighteen Million Five Hundred and Thirty-seven Naira, Three Hundred and Ninety Kobo.) from the petitioner on the understanding that he would make full payment upon sale of the items. He reneged on the agreement by remitting only N13,400,000 and diverting the sum of N5,137,930 (Five Million, One Hundred and Thirty Seven Thousand, Nine Hundred and Thirty Naira Only) to personal use. The defendant however paid a further N1,000,000 (One Million Naira Only) to the complainant in the course of the investigation, leaving a balance of Four Million, One Hundred and Thirty Seven Thousand, Three Hundred and Ninety Naira (N4,137,390.00).  The charge reads, “
