  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. ASWAMA Fixes Fresh Date For December Sanitation Exercise In Anambra. The Anambra State Waste Management Authority, ASWAMA, has said that this month's sanitation exercise will now hold on Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 7am to 10am, in order to prepare the state's environment for the christmas and year festivities. According to a release signed by the Managing Director of ASWAMA, Mr Mike Ozoemena, all residents of Anambra are encouraged to participate fully in the exercise by cleaning their surroundings and desillting all water channels. The statement noted that all forms of human or vehicular movements are prohibited within the hours of the exercise as offenders will be apprehended and sanctioned accordingly. It further reminded Ndi Anambra of the state government's policy on door to door collection of refuse and enjoined everyone to neatly bag their wastes and leave them in front of their homes for adequate disposal by the state waste management body. Wickedness: Unknown men pluck eye of 12 years old Almajiri boy Omeiza Balogun  A 12-year-old Najib Hussaini, an indigene of Kano state, and student of a Qur’anic education (Almajiranci) in Kafin-Madaki has fell victim to eye plucking by unknown men.   The boy according to a statement by the Bauchi Police Command, Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil, the boy was barely a year in the state when the incident occurred on 9th December, 2022 at about 0200hrs at Unguwar Yamma, not far from the victim’s school (Tsangaya).  It was revealed that two unknown people who came on a motorcycle lured the young victim to a nearby house to assist them to call a lady.  The perpetrators of the evil act thereafter took him on a bike to an isolated area near Hanyar Gonar Wakili of the same village, where they stopped the motorcycle near a bushy area and forcefully plucked the right eye of the victim and consequently abandoned him in his pool of blood.  The victim however managed to reach a point where

PDP CRISES: WIKE, OKOWA, ORTOM IN AIRPORT DRAMA The scene was the Makurdi Airport and the dramatis personae were three Peoples Democratic (PDP) governors – Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Samuel Ortom (Benue) and Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta). Ortom, whose mission was to receive the leader of the Group of Five (G-5) aggrieved governors, was the first to arrive at the airport to receive Wike, who was billed to inaugurate the Geographic Information Service Centre built in Makurdi by the Ortom administration. PENSIONERS BLOCK GOVT HOUSE, DEMAND FOR PAYMENT OF ENTITLEMENTS Pensioners in Niger state yesterday barricaded entrance gate into Government House, chanting anti-APC administration songs and calling out Governor Abubarkar Sani Bello to pay their entitlements before vacating office. Also, apparently to forestall possible breakdown of law and order, Niger state police command rolled out its Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), conspicuously being positioned at the entrance gate as Local Government Chairmen were being sworn-in.    The pensioners in their numbers had positioned themselves at the entrance into the Government House, venue for the swearing-in of the chairmen scheduled for 10 am, but could not start as planned because of the activities of the pensioners.
