  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. EFCC Arrest 21-Year-old for Alleged €17,000 Fraud Operatives of the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested one Irabor Kennedy Osasogie for alleged fraud. The 21-years old was arrested recently by the Commission following a petition by one Antje, a German citizen, complaining that the suspect defrauded her of €17,000. The petitioner claimed that she met Osasogie through social media after she was defrauded of €68,000 by one Michael Patrick. She alleged that Osasogie offered to assist her in recovering the money but further defrauded her of €17,000. Upon arrest, the suspect claimed he only received €12,850 from the petitioner. The suspect will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.

KDSG Security Update: Friday 23rd December 2022.  Troops ambush bandits, neutralize ten and destroy camps across Chikun, Birnin Gwari and Giwa LGAs  Troops of Operation Forest Sanity neutralized eight bandits and seized six motorcycles during ambush patrols in the Chikun/Birnin Gwari general areas.   According to feedback to the Kaduna State Government, the troops set up ambush positions at bandits' crossing points in the Buruku/Birnin Gwari areas.  The troops thus made contact with bandits, and neutralized eight, while recovering four motorcycles and three mobile phones in the first successful mission.  The troops then engaged bandits in a second mission and recovered two motorcycles. Pictures attached.  In a similar operation, troops neutralized two bandits during clearance patrols along the Sabon Birni-Maidaro-Dogon Dawa-Galadimawa-Kidandan-Fatika axes. Six male suspects were arrested in a dawn raid and  police recovered a factory made shot gun, two home-made rifles, some bullets and several knives at Port Moresby's Talai and Gorobe settlements today. A police team comprising members of Sector Patrol Fox 100 units and Badili Police stormed into several homes at Talai and Gorobe settlements today, nabbing the suspects and confiscating the weapons. Anambra State Physical Planning Board Reads Riot Act To Impersonators Anambra State Government has warned individuals and groups impersonating the state building regulatory body, the Anambra State Physical Planning Board, to desist forthwith or face the wrathful hands of the law. The Chairman of the Physical Planning Board, Barrister Chike Maduekwe handed down the warning in an interview with journalists at the Board's Corporate Headquarters in Amawbia. According to Barrister Maduekwe, he has been inaundated by a barrage of queries by government and private individuals that some people now move round the state, pasting demand notices and soliciting for money, thereby usurping the legal duty of the board. Two Nigerian peacekeepers killed in Mali, bodies on way back home Two UN Nigerian fallen peacekeepers killed in Mali will be transported to their country after a memorial service by UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali (MINUSMA). Mr Benjamin Olafaju, Head of Chancery at the Nigeria Permanent Mission to the UN told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in New York that their bodies would be transported to Nigeria after the ceremony. The memorial will be held at Parade Ground, MINUSMA headquarters, Bamako at 10.00am on Friday. Similarly, UN Spokesperson, Mr Stéphane Dujarric, confirmed to NAN that the remains of the fallen peacekeepers would be received by the Nigerian Government after the ceremony. “They will… soon after the memorial ceremony, they will be transported back to their home country, and then it will be up to the Nigerian military and the Nigerian Government to decide on the burial,” he said.
