       Justice Chuka Obiozor of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, ordered the freezing of the sum of N9.9bn belonging to the Lagos State government. The funds are domiciled in First City Monument Bank, FCMB, account number 5617984012; Access Bank account number 0060949275 and Zenith Bank account number 1011691254, respectively. Justice Chuka Obiozor gave the order, following an ex-parte application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The EFCC had prayed the court to freeze the account pending the conclusion of investigation and possible prosecution of Adewale Adesanya, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Chief of Staff to former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode. The applicant, EFCC, in an affidavit deposed to by Kungmi Daniel, an operative of the Commission, stated that there was “a huge inflow of N9,927,714,443.29” from the state accounts into an FCMB bank account opened on September 17,...

       Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that his administration is committed to returning Port Harcourt to its Garden City status. The Governor gave all Sanitation Service Providers an ultimatum of seven days to effectively clean up their respective beats. He declared that at the expiration of the seven days, Service Providers found wanting will have their contra cts revoked. Governor Wike also stated that his administration will improve the sanitary condition of Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas through diligent implementation of the environmental sanitation agenda of his administration.        A Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) graduate, Isaac Atamba has been shot dead in a gang related violence in Calabar. Atamba, a native of Igwo village Obudu LGA in Cross River State was gunned down on Friday August 2, while working at his laundry shop Atimbo, Calabar Municipal. It has not been established which gang he belonged to and the rival that killed him.More photos below.

      At least five persons were killed in a clash between rival cult groups at the Idemili - North and Oyi areas of Anambra State on Friday August 4th. The reason for the rival cults’ clashes could not be ascertained, however spokesperson of the State Police Command , Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident, said the police were on the trail of those involved in the fracas, adding that the  command’s rapid response team had intervened and returned normalcy to the areas. "It was a cult clash. They equally shot two others at Ogidi. Police patrol teams rushed to the scene and took the victims to the hospital for medical attention, but they were certified dead on arrival. As Anambra Road Maintenance Agency continues patching of Potholes across the State, Governor Willie Obiano has acquired 3 more Automated Pothole Patching Machines to enhance their work. According to the Managing Director of Anambra Road Maintenance Agency, Engineer Emeka Okoye, the Machines will help immensely in the discharge of their duties.        A 10-year-old orphan was dumped at a hospital in Benue state while experiencing labour pains and the child has now given birth after having to undergo Caesarean section due to the small size of her pelvis. According to Chigozie Effe who shared the news on Facebook, the child named Masenengen Targba was dumped at General Hospital Markurdi located at Northbank by an unknown person in the early hours of Sunday, August 4, 2019. She was in so much pain as it was time to have her baby, but surgery needed to be carried out and she could not afford it. Upon interrogation, it was discovered that she is an orphan from Tiv in Benue state, but has been living in an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp located in Benue State. It is in the camp that she was raped and impregnated.   Michael Job, the US preacher and actor who recently visited Kenya as 'Fake Jesus' has reportedly died just a few days after attending an interdenominational Christian event as a guest speaker. According to a report by Kenyan Live News, 'medics at Heyn Hospital have confirmed that Michael Job succumbed to pneumonia while receiving treatment'.       A yet-to-be identified lady was found dead underneath a hotel bed in Owerri the capital of Imo State. Eyewitnesses claimed the incident occurred last weekend at a popular hotel along World Bank Road in Owerri, and a cleaner reportedly found the corpse. It was further learnt that identifying the girl has been quite difficult, as the killer who is also yet to be identified fled with her belongings including her clothes and underwear.
