  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. UGANDA'S OPPOSITION LEADER ''BESIGYE'',ARRESTED FOR TREASON.

                      Uganda's opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye remanded to a maximun security prison in Kampala city today wednesday after being charged for treason and will return to court June 1st.Besigye briefly appeared organized protests against President Yoweri Museveni.Treason has a maximum penalty of death upon conviction.Besigye will return to court on June 1.Besigye came second in presidential elections held in February,but rejected the official results as fraudulent and called for an international audit of the results,one of the reasons cited for charging him with treason.

                                               The news that the first Chibok school girl has been found raises hope that the remaining 218 girls and others still held captive would be rescued and reunited with their families.ActiopnAid Nigeria's Country Director,Ojobo Ode Atuluku stated this today wednesday while reacting to reports that one of the girls kidnapped by the Boko Haram insurgents has been found.She said ''We celebrate with the family of the found Chibok girl,and commend the effort of the Nigerian Army and the Civilian Joint Task Force for their efforts at ending insurgency in the North-East of Nigeria,the Nigerian Government must intensify efforts and give them all required support to seek out the remaining girls.It is important for the government to strongly advocate against the stigma and discrimination women and girls face when they return.We also expect the Victims Support Fund of the Federal Government to be accountable and give report of how women and gi

                   Concerned about the increasing proliferation and engagement of prohibited firearms that threatens security in parts of the country,and as part of initiativees aimed at ensuring adequate protection of lives and property of the citizens,the Inspector-General of police.IGP Solomon E. Arase,fdc,NPM, has directed all Commissioners of Police in State Commands and the FCT to activate mechanism for the mop-up of prohibited firearms within their Areas Of Responsibility.For the avoidance of doubts,prohibited firearms under the Firearms Act include Artillery,Apparatus for the discharge of any explosives or gas-diffusing projectile,Revolvers and Pistols,Machine guns and Machine Pistots,Rocket Weapons and Military rifles including those with calibre 7.62mm,9mm,300 inches and 303inches.Furthermore,the Inspector General of Police urges persons in possession of non-prohibited firearms to immediately obtain or renew their licenses before July,2016 by following the process on the requ

NIGERIAN ARMY,RAIDED CATTLE RUSTLERS & ARMED BANDITS CAMP YESTERDAY IN YAN MANGU FOREST.{PHOTOS}.

                          Yesterday tuesday the 17th of May 2016,troops of 1 Brigade Nigerian Army operating under the auspices of Operation MESA in Zamfara state,raided suspected cattle rustlers and armed bandits camp at Yan Mangu forest,near Dandindin village,Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara state.The Troop also arrested 2 bandits and recovered 1 AK-47 rifle,1 AK-47 rifle magazine loaded with 7 rounds of 7.62mm {Special} ammunitions,3 locally made guns and 1 motorcycle.Two suspects were arrested while attempting to flee from the camps.Nevertheless,the troops have destroyed all the bandits camps in the forest and are further dominating the general area and other flasj points with raids and patrols.The public are kindly requested to continue to be more security conscious and report any suspicious movement or persons t the nearest security agencies.-Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman,Acting Director Army Public Relations.More photos below.
