  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.                   According to sources,the quest for Ghana to win medala at the 2018 Commonwealth Games next April in Gold Coast,Australia has received Twenty Five Thousand Ghana Cedis boost from the Australian High Commission in Ghana.The sum was presented to the Ghana Olympic Committee by the the Australian High Commissioner to Ghana,Mr Andrew Barnes today Monday in Accra.He explained that the money was raised after a fundraising event held last March when the Queen's Baton Relay toured the country.Mr Barnes in an address before handling over the cheque to the GOC President,Ben Nunoo Mensah said the fundraising dinner held at his residence with support from the Azumah Nelson Foundation and other Ghana-based Australian businesses was a resounding success.The High Commissioner stated that he was hopeful that Team Ghana will make an impressive outing when the games get underway on April 4,2018.He added that the High Commission will also present 25 Ghana Cedis to the Azumah Nelson Fo

            Murtala Adamu,Executive Chairman Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board was on friday May 12 convicted and sentenced to six months imprisonment by Justice Zainab Abubakar of the Federal High Court Gusau Zamfara State for allegedly engaging in private business while in public service.The convict's journey to prison started when the Commission received a petition from one Abdullahi Nakura who alleged that the convict refused to pay him and other contractors for jobs executed for the board.Upon receipt of the petition,the commission swung into action and its investigation revealed that apart from nonpayment for contracts,the convict was also in the habit of collecting kickbacks from contractors.It was further discovered that the convict also awarded contract to his own company.In her judgment,Justice Zainab discharged and acquitted the convict on the ten count corruption charge brought against him by the EFCC but found him guilty of the offence of engaging in privat

                Justice E.A Obile of the Federal High Court sitting in WWarri,Delta State on May 11,2017 convicted and sentenced two siblings,Chukwudi Ugwueke {a.k.a James Scott} and Sophia Ugwueke to twwo years imprisonment each with an optiob of Four Hundred Thousand Naira {N400,000.00} fine each.The duo was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,on one count charge bordering on possession of fraudulent documents with intent to defraud one Lisa Marie Nors,an American citizen.Justice Obile,after going through the evidences tendered by the Prosecution counsel,M.T. Iko found the duo guilty and according convicted them.The convicts were first arraigned on February 1,2017 but pleaded not guilty to a 13-count.However,when the matter came up on thursday,May 11,2017 for hearing,the accused persons pleaded guilty an amended one count charge and were accordingly convicted and sentenced.The convicts were arrested at their residence in Sapela,Delta State based on intelligen

WORLD BANK BOOST FOR EFCC'S ANTI-CORRUPTION FIGHT.{PHOTOS}.

                Rachid Benmessaoud,Country Direcyor World Bank for Nigeria,has assured the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,of adequate support under the World Bank's 'Economic Governance project' to further strengthen the anti-corruption war in Nigeria.Benmessaoud,who is also the Coordinating Director for the West African Regional Integration Program,made this assertion on Friday,May 12,2017 while on a spot assessment visit to the ongoing construction work at the permanent site of the EFCC,Airport road,Abuja.His visit was a follow-up to that of a delegation of the World Bank which had during a visit on thursday,May 4,2017 pledged support for the anti-graft agency in the areas of facilities and capacity building.The visitor,who was conducted round the facilities at the site by the project coordinator,Dixon Otitoju,described the facilities as 'Modern' and expressed happiness at the ongoing project and level of work at the new site.According to him,the Wo

               Ojodu Berger has been transformed from a rural like area to a suburb.Though they have very nice houses around the area but they lacked good roads and proper market structures and bus stops.So this morning security agents chased out all the buses loading around Berger market and their was heavy presence of security.A lot of people who used to enter bus from the popular Berger bus stop could not catch a bus stop because the bus drivers have all fled due to the presence of security.The Newly built Pedestrian Bridge with construction of Lay-bys,Slip road and segregated bus park at Berger along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway by the Lagos State Government which is to be commissioned tomorrow,Tuesday,May 16,2017.More photos below.
