The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.        The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, arraigned the trio of Gbadegun Isaiah Abiodun, Oladipo Oladapo and Afolabi Peter Albert, before Justice Chuka Obiozor of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy and money laundering to the tune of N177, 300,000(One Hundred and Seventy-seven Million, Three H undred Thousand Naira).  The defendants, who are staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Osun State, were alleged to have conspired amongst themselves to receive a cash payment of a sum of N177, 300,000 from a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke, on the eve of the 2015 general election, without going through a financial institution.One of the counts reads: "That you, Gbadegun Isaiah Abiodun, Oladipo Oladapo and Afolabi Peter Albert and others at large, on or about the 30th day of March 2015 in Nigeria, within the jur

LAGOS RELEASES N466.86M AS PENSION TO 187 RETIREES.

      The Lagos State Government has again credited   N 466.855m to the Retirement Savings Accounts of 187 of its retirees, including those of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), under the Contributory Pension Scheme for the month of July 2018. The State Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Dr. Akintola Benson-Oke, who disclosed this recently, stated that in spite of the scarcity of funds, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode prioritises the payment of pensioners by making sure funds are released every month for payment of their entitlements. He said the present administration had so far paid more than  N 38.5 billion to 9,401 retirees.
