 Outcries Over State Recognised Vigilantes In North-West   The security outfits established by various state governments, especially in the North-West, are being accused of indiscriminate arrests and killing of suspects, as well as innocent people without recourse to judicial processes, findings by Daily Trust Saturday revealed. But those charged with the responsibility of managing the outfits have debunked the claims of extrajudicial killings, though some admitted what they described as “overzealousness” by some of the operatives. It was alleged that in some states, long lists of suspected bandits, their supporters or sympathisers have been arrested and ultimately killed, and such acts are allegedly being carried out without recourse to the police and other law enforcement agencies. LAGOS STATE PAYS N891 MILLION TO 324 RETIREES.

                The Lagos State Government has again paid the sum of N891 million to 324 retirees from the mainstream civil service,local governments,state universal basic education and other parastals for the month of July,2016.Speaking at the 29th Retirement Benefit Bond presentation ceremony recently,the Director-General ,State Pension Commission {LASPEC},Mrs Folashade Onanuga advised the beneficiaries to use the lump sum payment by their respective Pension Fund Administrator judiciously.She emphasized that the State government has fulfilled her own part of paying the retirees entitlements and that it is now left for the Pension Fund Administrators /Annuity Service Providers to fulfil their part of the arrangement by ensuring that monthly payment to retirees are made.While reiterating that the commission will continue to monitor the activities of pension operators to guarantee that they continue to fulfil their obligations to the State retirees,Onanuga implored beneficiaries to seek

                   According to sources,men in Iran have been posing pictures of themselves wearing the hijab on social media to protest compulsory hijab.The harsh tag #MenInHijab was coined by an Iranian journalist Masih Alinejad calling on male compatriots to share their photos in support.Alinejad was exiled today in New York in 2014,called on his more than a million followers on facebook to support the movement,and they have responded in many numbers. The journalist was protesting the statement by head of Iranian diplomacy,Mohammed Javad Zarif,who told a French senator that when tourists are visiting Iran mus have compulsory veil according to Jeune Afrique.Aliinejad started a movement 'My stealthy freedom'' which calls for the right for individual Iranian women to choose wgether they want hijab.More photos below.                                                              

19 YEARS AFTER,AFRO-BEAT MUSICIAN ''FELA'' IS REMEMBERED TODAY.{PHOTOS}.

                Today the 2nd of August 2016,made it 19 years {2nd August 1997} Afro Beat Nigerian Musician Fela,passed away.I remembered that day when it was announced that he died,i was still in  secondary and alot of his music was played on the streets,and a lot of people had so much to say about him.Though it was said he died of HIV,but he was well respected in Nigeria for his bravery in challenging most of the military government,in an era that was very dangerous to challenge the government.He sang and everybody listened.His first son Femi Kuti,said in his 2011 interview with the Nigeria Today that ''Yes he was a great man.He is the kind of person you meet and in the few minutes you spend with him,you learn so much.You become very African conscious,you will want to know more about your people,and you'll appreciate the culture.He had that kind of aura,this African thing about him that would surely make you proud''.More photos below.                              

FRAUDSTERS NOW HAVE A NEW METHOD OF DEFRAUDING PEOPLE THROUGH THE RECENT EFCC RECRUITMENT EXERCISE.{READ}.

                    It has come to the knowledge of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,that some unscrupulous members of the public have been defrauding unsuspecting Nigerians in the on-going recruitment exercise of the Commission.The modus operandi of the scammers is to request for applications from job-seeking Nigerians and later inform the applicants to pay N49,000 {Forty Nine Thousand Naira only} as processing fee.Thereafter,the ''successful candidate'' were asked to pay another N48,000 {Forty Eight Thousand Naira only} into an account for accomodation and transportation.A poorly written appointment letter purportedly from a non-existent office of Director General,Ibrahim Lamorde and dated 03/07/2016,sent to one Ubong Aniefiok Bassey reads: ''This is to inform you that you have been offered a job into the nigeria E.F.C.C,all applicant that have applied 2016/2017 nigeria EFCC form are expected to come down to the head office at Abuja on 15/07/2
